Thanks to the wonderful generosity of Noel96, I have conquered the difficulty of aligning, measure marking, timing and alignment with count in for an imported audio track that I will want to split. I usually did it the other way around by importing with the stem splitter, but his method had way more control.

So now I want to split the fully massaged audio track into its stems and will use the Stem Splitter dialog box. It has the option to use the already present song instead of importing fresh.

1) My main concern is the "destination track (first)". Since there is already an audio track present, should the drop down menu be used and choose "Utility #1"?

2) Secondly, should the "Stems to Include" are have the "Master" not ticked because there already is a master present?

Thanks for any help being sure I don't screw up!

Have you looked at this? I think this will answer those questions.

Thanks, I had seen that in the past. I watched it again. It did seem to answer the question about not ticking the master check box because there already was an audio file present which would act as the master.

What wasn't clear is my first question about the destination for the stems. The video's example seems to keep the "audio" designation selected and not the drop down option of utility #1 as the first split location. I found this slightly confusing since there already is an audio track present (the master). So I guess this one question still remains for me.

I appreciate your pointing this video out again!

Yes you can uncheck the MASTER box since you already have that in the AUDIO track.

Assuming you have added a couple of utility tracks already.... the program will automatically start adding the stems in the first available unused utility track.

Be sure to change the names of the new stem utility tracks to a friendly name. IIRC they are named numerically..... I might be wrong, but I think that's what I have seen in mine. I caught it after I had exported them to my DAW and had to listen to them and rename them.

Thanks Guitarhacker.

And HERE is the answer to the destination folder "Destination Track (first)" question. See arrow 1 in the attached picture.

After talking with PG, it became clear that there are two possibilities.

1. If you choose "Audio", the stems will start populating at that spot and then down through available Utility Tracks and the original imported non-split file will be ERASED !!!!

2. If you wish to preserve the originally imported non-split audio track that you may have adjusted before splitting, be sure to choose "Utility #1" from the drop down menu so that the stems will start populating from here downward and not ERASE the original un-split audio track in the "audio" track location.

Tricky stuff, but Ember at PG tried it all out and verified this nuance.
