Hello?

This song was written just before the 1988 Korea Olympics.
I tried to make it sound like a children's song, but it turns out it wasn't.

While organizing my storage room on a hot day, I found a microphone I'd forgotten, so I mustered up the courage to record it.
It's been over 10 years since I last sang, but even I find it difficult to listen to.
I appreciate any feedback, help with the singing, arrangement, or any other musical assistance.
The song below is the English version using the synthesizer V.

가사 (lyrics)

이 밤이 가면 먼 길 떠난 새처럼- 막연한 기대에 아이처럼 떠날까
이 밤이 가먼 길 떠난 꿈처럼- 미련인 양 한번 돌아보고 떠날까
새하얀 이 밤을 끝없이 날아도- 진정 그댈 잊을 순 없을 것 같아

When this night goes like a bird gone far away Like a kid with vague expectation shall I leave
When this night goes like a dream gone far away With a regret for once turn around then shall I leave
Despite flying through this snow-white night I might never forget about you for good

I really like this gentle song, asom2me, and I much prefer your real vocals to the SynthV. SynthV vocals nearly always sound to me like an average singer who somehow always lacks feeling. Your vocals are fine for this sing. I also like the instrumentation, but are you using BiaB vibes or is it a bell pad? Whater it is it sounds great.

Hi aSoM!

I like the syncopated feel of the backing on this song, underpinning the long-held notes in your vocal. You always write good melodies. I much prefer your Korean version because I think we then hear it how you intended with the syllables and meter of the words fitting the melody.

Great song!

Hi aSoM.

Pleasant song and melody. The backing and vocals work well.

There are a number of places where there are issues with words:

"When this night goes...", there's something wrong with how "goes" is being sung.
"Like a kid with vague expectations..." the word "vague" is pronounced wrong, and "expectations" is missing.
"Despite flying through..." the word "through" is pronounced wrong.
"I might never..." the word "never" is pronounced wrong.

Most of the errors are probably typos when you typed the words into SynthV. It's a really easy mistake to make.

With "never", it sounds like you put "ne" on one note, and "ver" on another note. When you do that, SynthV thinks these are two different words (but they aren't) and guesses how to pronounce them. Sometimes it guesses right, but this time, it guessed wrong.

Nice song! smile

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Great groove and use of that synth voice.
Super mix also.
I liked it.

Wow, thank you for the kind explanation.
And I used Cubase's bell sound.
