This remixed version very much differs to the original as I replaced the guzheng with the koto, the lead erhu with the synth flutes throughout, and in the 3rd of the 3 chords cycles/choruses the erhu is replaced by viola, cello & violin. I've also added 1 more Scandinavian strings stem and the Celtic harps. Thus the original East/West fusion feel has gone and it now sounds much more 'English' and even almost Medieval in parts.

String Quartet: Snow Gentle World Flow ~ Avery Bright
Koto: New Age Bossa w/ Koto Synth ~ Miles Black
Electro Flutes: ElectroFlute Pop Ballad ~ Miles Black
Piano: Aisling Celtic Air Cello Ballad ~ Blair Masters
Acoustic Guitar 1: unknown - see * note below
Acoustic Guitar 2: 3 Guitar Country Rock ~ Jason Roller
Bass Guitar: Country Rock Guitar Solo Pop Ba ~ Tobin Frank
Bell Pad: 80s Pop Ballad w/ Bell Pad ~ Miles Black
Strings 1&3: Scandinavian 1 - World Styles 2: ~ uncredited
Harps 1&2: Heaven Blissful Celtic Harp Pop ~ Sharlene Wallace
Viola: Viola & Violin ~ Avery Bright
Cello: Sobbing Cello & Nylon Guitar ~ Matt Nelson
Violin: Viola & Violin ~ Avery Bright

* Probably due to not recording it when I should have I forgot Acoustic Guitar 1's actual Style and so I can't find the name of the guitarist.

4/4 Em 115 bpm 120 bars 4:20

Chay, this is a very cool version, and I like the very different feel you've achieved here. Really nice rhythmic flow and neatly mixed. Sweet!

Chay,

I really like how you give each version of your songs their own identity. There is a familiar feel, but also a distinction that provides a new unique vibe & feel.

As always, an excellent mix and overall great production.

Hi Chay - that was captivating! I listened intently as you introduced and built the layers. In my own shorthand, I called the progression Japanese Baroque > Scarborough Folk > Celtic Enya > ‘All in’. You’re one contributor that causes me to read your band listing as I listen to see what is going to pop up.

A really good listen.

Chay, this is excellent. I loved how you intensified the song as it progressed. Lots of fantastic layers. You certainly know how to mix and match various RTs in masterpieces.
Loved it

Chay, I really enjoyed listening.. i’m usually listening to these pieces analytically, but this one I just listened for the pure enjoyment of it..beautiful tapestry of tones and musical color. I do have to say I have never heard of some of the RT’s that you’ve listed. Maybe I don’t have them in my kit. I’m going to investigate! great work. Thanks for posting.

Thanks, Ron. I was never really satisfied with the original version featuring the erhu, so I'm pleased that I forced myself to change the whole feel of it.

Thanks, Bob. It was inspired by finding the uniquely sounding String Quartet in the Snow Gentle World Flow style (RT2452). After taking the sample I forgot to write it down and then I couldn't find it again. In the original version I gave it as Jazz Orchestra (_JAZZORCH.STY Jazz Orchestra) as it's also in that, though I knew that probably wasn't where I got it from, then I recently re-found it. In the BiaB interface for the Snow Gentle style it doesn't list 'String Quartet', plus it plays at a very low volume, and it's one of those which you can only sample by muting everything else.

Thanks, Andrew! I like the idea of 'Japanese Baroque', though the original version with the erhu predominant was more Chinese. When posters list the number of the Style they use it doesn't mean anything to me, plus if I see an interesting one I can never find it in BiaB! So I prefer to list the full names of the samples, plus to also credit the musicians, though I don't do that on other site where I post the links.

Thanks for that positive response, Tom. I can never find the Styles when others just quote the number, but I'm pretty sure you must have the ones I've used in your BiaB as I can't see PG Music deleting any. I always keep a list of everything I use in 'Favorite Styles'. If you want the actual number of anything I use (as the one quoted in my reply to Bob Dean) just ask.

Great track choices and the slow build is very engaging.

You do such great work exploring the boundaries of BiaB.
Scandinavian strings? Never would've imagined.
This should be in one of the song libraries for film, tv, ads, etc.

How you manage to maintain that degree of clarity with the large number of tracks is remarkable.
Nice supporting vid also.

Cool, Chay. Do you ever write out the scores for these parts? I love the way you intertwine them all. You are a master of composing these wonderful instrumentals. They always build so well and carry feelings of hope, encouragement and love of all.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Thanks, J&B! There are 13 tracks in the list, but 17 in the mix as some cut out and return later and others only play in parts, plus I split the String Quartet into 2 separate stems for left & right channels so that I could better balance the dbs of each.
"This should be in one of the song libraries for film, tv, ads, etc." I only ever tried one site - I can't now recall which one - but they say they won't accept anything which uses samples. I assumed that's for fear of copyright infringement, so I contacted them saying I compose in BiaB and infringement isn't an issue, but they never replied. It's probably a no exceptions rule.

Thanks, Marty! 'Do (I) ever write out the scores for these parts?' Not sure what you mean by "write out the scores", but I always have a 'vision' of how anything's to be arranged and even for some rhythm section instruments I'll have a few different samples to try out to see what works best. Sometimes my original idea plays out, then at other times none of the samples make the grade so I go hunting for something new.
I nearly always have 2 or 3 experimental chord structures in SGU files going at any one time and those I alter, add to and/or delete from as inspiration takes me, so re the positive vibes it's more like they happen on their own as things evolve. I can't recall who it was, but I think it was an American folk singer who said that songs 'pre-exist' in the air and he just happens to reach out and catch one as it passes, and that's always what it seems like to me. It often feels like something seemingly acausal comes into play and has an effect in the creative process so that what finally materialises was 'meant to be' and couldn't have materialised in any other form.
♫ It's a kind of magic, magic, magic
