I bought the program upgrade for the 2025 Mac version and started playing around with it and came up with this instrumental. After I got the initial structure of the song the way I wanted it I printed out the chord sheet and kept it in my pocket to look at a few times a day. I'd look at the paper and try to visualize the song playing in my head as I read the chords and formed ideas for the melody. I also rendered out the chord sheet video to play along to and would go over it a few times per day for about a week. As soon as I was ale to play the song from start to finish I exported all the instrument stems from Band-in-a-Box over into LUNA where I recorded and mixed the backing track using UAD plugins. I tracked the lead guitar into LUNA using a program called Gig Performer 5 which allowed me to essentially play the song live and relay it into LUNA. I overdubbed a small part where I made a mistake but overall it was a live performance. I programmed Gig Performer 5 with Native Instruments Guitar Rig 7 Pro (Rocker Grit Preset) for the intro, verses, choruses, and bridge sections and then to switch to (Rocker 80s Preset) for the guitar solo section with a little bit of Universal Audio's Hittsville Reverb and a very light chorus effect (I can't remember the name of the UAD chorus plugin off the top of my head). I'll make a video of the process if you want me to. If so, just let me know in the comments.
Thank you for allowing me to share with you!
PS. I really - really - REALLY LOVE Band-in-a-Box! It's my favorite music software ever!!!

PW, super jam track, and nice playing. If I could get back every hour I've spent jamming along to a BiaB backing track...well, I wouldn't do that. It's just too much fun. Welcome, and well done!

Sounds great. I love that flying feeling in music too, and you nailed it. BIAB is the coolest thing, ever. It changes lives. I appreciate the process you shared...that bit about carrying the chords around with you for awhile. Looking forward to more from you.
PW, A fantastic piece of music. Great chops and super tone on that axe. Super backing band and mix. We can never have to many guitar instrumentals on these forums! Your procedure is very similar to mine, i.e. work out chord progression and style in BiaB then work on the lead. Jamming along with BiaB is one of my favorite things to do. A great song.
Back in my day the only time we started panic buying was when the bartender shouted "last call"!

Great production, instrumentation and mix. Love the guitar leading. Also interesting to read of your creative process. I can't visualise music from a chord sheet, I have to hear it. All in all an excellent instrumental.
Some favourite Waoist Adages: #1: Play on the Way. #13: Ask not for whom the flower blooms, it blooms for you. #58: Bring consciousness to it. #63: On the road to effortlessness, effort must be made. #92: Be Love Now, the rest will come on its own.
Wow, cool approach for writing a song, Patrick. AND with equally cool results. Excellent playing. I listened twice trying to hear the mistake you mention. Wherever is was you masked it brilliantly. Whenever I made a mistake playing live, I'd always do it again as if to say "I meant that." Saw you YT channel, which I have to get back to to check out.
Enjoy whatever happens! marty

Good song and very well played. I still remember the days when people said, "nope, it has to be a real amp to sound good", and nowadays it has to be at least a Kemper. This song shows that a skilled musician can achieve excellent results with the often-dissed Guitar Rig (which I also use often, even though I'm not a good guitarist). Well done
Excellent playing. And more importantly - to me - it moves forward and maintains my interest throughout.
Thanks for including the back story - it's always interesting to hear about other people's process and the tools they use. But as B.D. notes, it's not the tools but the skill with which they are used. And you sound great!
