Hi Herb, I have had great success of audio to MIDI with the studio version of Melodyne. However it is only a note conversion. AFAIK there is no audio to MIDI conversion program that includes the nuances of string instrument, i.e. pitch bend, vibrato, slides, etc. Those nuances must in inputted via continuous controllers, CCs.
