Howdy Folks,

You folks know how to take great music and make it exceptional. As always, your music is some of the best I've heard in my nearly 80 years on this slowly self-destructing planet.

Blues-Rock is one of my favorite genres (well, technically a sub-genre). Music is always at its best when the listener can feel the entertainers' deep understanding and appreciation for it. Especially when they are beyond expert with its presentation. I would say that captures a pretty good description of you three. Music from the soul.

In one of the previous comments, someone suggested a name for you if you went on tour. The name that comes to me, whether or not you would choose to go on tour, is: The Resurrectors. Yeah, you resurrect long-forgotten music that deserves a new audience. And nobody resurrects them better than the three of you.

The one relatively contemporary Blues singer I really like is Gary Morris. Your music equals his, in my perception and ears.

wishing both of you the very best.

Alan

PS: Bud, you're older than me, and I was one of the last people to depart the Last Supper. I would suggest not touring!

Thanks. We find the public domain to be a never ending source of fun tunes - whether we stay close to the original or only use it as an inspiration.

Ma Rainey lives in y'all. I am a BIG FAN. You guys are the top of my Spotify playlists.

Thanks Marty. As always we appreciate your thoughtful reviews and support over the years.

Great track, guitar, vocal, the whole thing. There aren't enough superlatives for Janice's singing. Production crystal clear. I'm in awe!

Magnificent. The performance and production sound flawless. Janice is in the zone, and Peter's guitar solo is out of this world---probably the best I've heard him play. Wowza! Thanks for posting this.

J&B and Peter:

Can always count on your trio to deliver an excellent slice of blues . . . no exception here. Smoky and cool in all respects. Love the guitar licks throughout and Janice, as usual, delivers an excellent vocal. Masterful production!

Sounds completely different than Ma's version, but surely her magic dust is present in your wonderfully inspired track. Peter is on fire, his playing is amazing and his guitar sounds like under a spell, I wonder what his secret powder is wink Janice's voice is strong and emotional, I really enjoyed her low notes and the stretching of the black dust. And Bud's mix is clear and sharp. Evil blues at its best.

Cool album cover. Nice photo..

Peter is at his melodic best in that opening.

It takes about 3 words to know that Janice Merritt is a True Talent.

Speaking of Talent... Quality Mix. So Damn Good.
(ooooooo That Bass!!!)

Peter's SOLO. Holy Moly, man! One of The Absolute top solos ever posted here. Magic.

The drums are perfect.

WOW. WOW.. WOW...

One of the Best things Ever posted in the Showcase.

Touring? Hahahaha. Did our last band gig over 20 years ago. Lot more fun creating one song a month here on the homestead.
Al, it’s been apparent to us for years that you get it regarding soul. We enjoy multiple genres and soul in the vocals is either there or not and evident in a few bars. But we’re preaching to the choir as both you and Di gave us wonderful examples. We appreciate every word you wrote and your support over the years.

Thank you.

We much appreciate that positive and thoughtful review - especially the hoodoo references. smile Thanks for mentioning Janice’s low notes … although she sang bluegrass for years she has always been a natural contralto. Appreciate the mix comments too.

Thanks,

Got introduced to Ma Rainey from the movie with Viola Davis. She was a powerful singer and powerful person. Loved this song Janice. Your vocal was awesome. Peters guitar was perfect. Super mix and production Bud. Well done....
