Super tune, Andrew! Lovely bridge. Great vocals and BGVs. You've squeezed out some great open sounds from your BiaB band and skillful mix. Just aced it.

I thoroughly enjoy your creativity, Andrew. I am so glad you brought this amazing work from the bedroom where very few listened. Rivers of creativity never run dry.

Love the 3/4 feel, the chord progression, the melody, the vocal and those wonderful responding BGVs. Great choice of bandmates, and you did a great job keeping the interest fresh with the dynamics you use.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Thanks Ron - I don’t know why I sat on this for so long. I was really pleased with the Soloist and the opening section it produced.

I hope no-one’s been listening in my bedroom! That would be embarrassing! Seriously though, I am enjoying the time and tools I now have to work on my music, and learning from others on this forum to ‘hear’ things.
Thanks Marty for your encouragement.

Your bio sounds similar to mine, except I'm still very much an introvert. The folksy still is a hit with me. Good work with the BGVs. Very enjoyable listen.

Hi Andrew,

I've been away for quite some time. there have been many legal issues to resolve with my wife's death. Most, but not all, have been resolved.

It does remind me of some mid-sixties songs by groups /duos like Peter and Gordon. Ha ... I think almost everyone has forgotten about them! Their big songs were "A Summer Song" and "Willow Weep For Me".

And then there was Chad and Jeremy's song "A World Without Love".

Your song reminded me of music similar to theirs. Nothing wrong with that, in my opinion.

Alan

Hi Alan - I am glad to hear that you are making progress. Whenever I see a post from you, I wonder how you are going. We've never met, but you're in my thoughts and prayers.

Yeah - if I write something in the folk genre, I have to expect the comparisons, and no problem on my part - these artists can be much maligned for no good reason. Simon and Garfunkel are my 'go to' in folk.

I really like this! The vox were very good. The arrangement was good. Love that guitar solo! In verse 3, that word design just doesn't flow for me. If possible, I would encourage you to redo that verse with an ear toward improving the prosody. Other than that, a fine effort!

Thanks Rob! I have to admit my ignorance here - I didn’t know what prosody was when I read your post, but have now looked it up. I’ve become aware recently of some of my songs having the emPHAsis on the wrong syLLAble. From what I understand, prosody is broader than that. I think I’m going to have to do some deeper research on this due to my historic approaches - I am a music first writer, so I often have chords and melody all done, then have to go looking for lyrics, although I usually do vary the lyrics and melody to improve the singability of the song. Maybe I need to do a few more passes to check that my lyrics have a natural phrasing to them, and maybe get rid of problematic words like ‘implementation’. Considering things like rise and fall will be a bit more problematic for me.

Anyway - life-long learning!

Lotta good things happening here.

Fine BiaB wrecking crew.
Nice contemplative write.
The mix sets up a good soundstage on the monitors.
Good job on those seven vocal tracks.

Enjoyed it!

Andrew, don't fret. You did a lot of good things on this song that I cannot do. Like sing well. I'm sure you will improve the prosody of your songs in time and then you'll be golden!

Best,

Bob
