Pardon the Apple digression. I use Logic Pro's Groove Track function to instantly align things like doubled snares, cymbals, etc., with the drum track. Folks successfully use it with vocal alignment also but I've never needed to. Why? Well, I'm a lucky mixer in that when Janice sings a harmony track it is so tight (typically on the first take) that it looks like it was digitally created from the lead. She keeps all that in her head and when she says she ready to record then she's ready.  Yes, I do like to brag on her - and hope she doesn't see this as she's likely the planet's most modest singer.
