Grip the steering wheel and push the pedal all the way down. When the way is smooth as gold just swerve around the curve. There's a nasty bump on the road ahead. Take it. Nothin' in the book will teach us how to keep our head on straight. Gotta stay alert and keep the windshield clean and clear. When we look away the risk to lose control is way high. Marty this sounds like it came from a pro studio. Loved the groove. Your backing band fit perfectly and sounded great. I really liked your vocal on this one. The lyrics were a great description of life, many good times and many bumps. Loved it.

Marty,
Great song and great band! AWESOME vocal! You have never sounded better. Love all the texture and slides in your vocal.
The mix on this is truly outstanding. It sounds like it was cut in a pro studio.
LOVED everything about it!

Hi Marty! A really good driving rhythm to this - your vocal is great - love the yodel effect and long held notes. Bill’s pedal steel smoothed out the bends as well.
One thing I noticed - the rhythm guitar on the left sounded like it lost its timing in various sections, or at least wasn’t quite on the beat with the rest of the band - at least to my ear.
But overall, a really cool song, and I can still hear it playing in my head even now. Good video as well. Andrew

Great energy to this, Marty, and your vocal was primo. As others have said, some of the little tricks you did vocally really made the track.

Marty, I really liked the beat--got me from the very beginning! I figured your vocal "slides" paralleled the pedal steel guitar--cool idea! Thanks for posting another excellent project!

Bob Thanks, Bob. I guess that's my behind-the-wheel voice. There's a new character for each song. hehe Hi Marty!
Andrew Thanks, Andrew. That yodeling is accieved by sticking my head out the window at 65kph. Good ear. I think that guitar on the left jazzes up the chorus, partly because of BiaB's pushes. I felt it was just another bump in the road. hehe Great energy to this, Marty, and your vocal was primo. As others have said, some of the little tricks you did vocally really made the track. Thanks, Bob. Yep, I drive fast. Those tricks are likely just something accidental that comes out of this old mouth.

Marty,
You always put little clever things in your tunes! For me in this one it was the little yodel vocal lines and words interspersed throughout! Ole buddy, you manhandled that bass (very nice job)! All instrument choices worked for my taste, especially the pedal steel! Marty, your songs are always entertaining all well worth the listeners time to enjoy! Keep on rockin' TB

In most cases, ageing leads to decay. Notable exceptions include a good wine, a fine cheese, and Marty Straub. Nasty Bump is a great example of this. Keep them coming!

A Road Song. About the road! I enjoyed the Ride (except for that bump). Bass sounds good. Bill's steel, too..(really interesting solo). Good mix.

Great, well produced song Marty. You have a unique vocal style, akin to Joe Walsh. Loved it. Thanks. Lee. Yeah, like Tiny Tim, if ya can't sing, get unique. Maybe Joe playing trumbone... hehe All aspects 100% excellent driving song, Marty. Just flawless. Thanks again, Chay. Yowzah! Slim Whitman never yodeled this well. Super job! Love the band. Your EZ drummer sound amazing. All this goodness AND the key of Db to boot. A real burner here, Marty. HAHA, thanks, Ron. Thanks also for the nod on EZD. I really enjoy writing out the drum parts, and keeping only four limbs on the drummer --not to mention the percussion crew. Marty...another super track...it really does have that traveling groove to it...super vocal and the steel is a perfect compliment. Thanks, Dan. I like what Bill added to the ride. The whole thing started when perusing BiaB Styles. The guitar sounded like it was saying Beep Beep. Fortunately the style wasn't good for a Wiley Coyote adventure, or that 50's song about a guy in a little Nash Rambler looking for second gear.

That is one cool song and we loved this last verse. It shows how much being with the right co-pilot on life’s road can make a difference: “When our way was blocked with curves we learned to make the turns. All the nasty bumps on our road we paved wtih love”
Enthusiastic cool vocals for the chug-a-lug vibe!
Nice bass (of course) in tone and notes and Bill’s pedal steel sounds excellent. And the BiaB rhythm section was cooking. Good drums too. All sittin' well in the mix on our monitors.
Enjoyed it!

Hi Marty.
What a fantastic groove! I couldn't stop my feet from tapping. I love how you've used the extended metaphor! I also love the write, the arrangement and the stellar production. For me, your singing was the icing on a fine cake. The way you performed this and matched your vocals to the mood of the groove was fantastic. It's enthusiastic thumbs up from me!
