Noel,
Always a treat hearing a Noel tune . . . I always look forward to them . . . this is no exception. Just a beautiful song and wonderful write. Production hits all the right notes in all the good ways. It’s not my favorite vocaloid—something with the tone that doesn’t quite nail it for me. BUT, that’s a bit of nitpicking and preference. It’s killer just as is.
Outstanding!!
Deej
P.S. Thanks much for your kind comments on the Deej/ray collaboration "Walking on Water"--I didn't want to bump the song up, but wanted to let you know I saw the comment and appreciate the feedback. Hi Deej. My apologies for taking so long to get back to you. These days, life seems to have more downs that ups for me. I sincerely appreciate your comments. All the best, --Noel

Beautiful song Noel. Your lyrics are so uplifting. I just feel good after listening to one of your songs. Really well done... Hi Scott. Thanks so much for dropping in. I'm sorry that I've been so slow getting back to you. I first read your comments a few days after you posted them and, quite honestly, you made my day! Thanks heaps for that Much appreciated. --Noel

The song is terrific, Noel. As a kid I always wondered why songs were always about love when there were so many other subjects to write about - and the magnificence of a tree is surely a worthy subject. I feel that if the synth voice had an accent, it would sound a lot like you. So that's a good thing. Very glad you can continue to make music. This is a fine effort! Hi Rob. Thanks lots. I really appreciate your time and your comments gave my day a huge lift. I haven't yet worked out how to get Synth V to do Australian accents. I'll keep on plugging away at it, though. Who knows what the future might bring! Thanks again and all the best --Noel

This is a beautiful song Noel and we felt connected with the lyric immediately.
Some of Janice’s favorite poems reflect on the comfort trees bring. Especially Mary Oliver’s “When I am among the trees” and Joyce Kilmer’s “Trees.”
And then the analogy to the steadfast partner is endearing.
Both of these are so true:
“… And this tree gave me hope and helped me mend”
“… And with all my heart, I promise I’ll be as steadfast as this tree”
We thought the lovely melody reminded us of something we love. And then we saw your response about Elvis’s “I can’t help…” and realized why it charmed us!
Nice and band and as always a fine mix.
Enjoyed it!
J&B (Long time tree huggers) Hi J&B. Thanks heaps for dropping in and having a listen I always appreciate your visit. And thank you for the two poems you mention. They are both worthy works. I had never encountered Mary Oliver's poem before. As for Joyce Kilmer's, I have long known the couplet, "I think that I shall never see, A poem as lovely as a tree," but I had no idea where it came from. I love the way that Kilmer's poem develops. There are some fine lyric-writing lessons in "Trees". Equally, Mary Oliver's poem offers some excellent pointers on how to write engaging and well-developed lyrics. I love that last stanza. And they [the trees] call again, “It’s simple,” they say, “and you too have come into the world to do this, to go easy, to be filled with light, and to shine.” You've inspired me to read some more poetry (and that's a great thing!). Thank you again. --Noel

Noel,
I finally have a little bit of time to spend on the forum. I was looking forward to hearing this, as your music is always excellent.
What a nice story you have created - a touch of melancholy. Your lyric creativity is always a pleasure to contemplate. I've not written many lyrics over the past two or three years. That is my greatest weakness in songwriting. I once was pretty good at it, but that discipline has been on vacation, and I can't seem to lure it back. But you are so good at it.
I like the relative simplicity of the arrangement. And, as always, the mix and final product are supreme. Very nice, indeed. I enjoy your song very, very much!
Wishing you everything good.
Alan Hi Alan. Thank you so much for taking time to visit. I know that you've had a lot on your plate in recent times and I sincerely appreciate the time that you took to listen and to write some comments. I hope that things are travelling as well as they possibly can for you. Thank you, too, for your comments about my lyrics. It's taken me a long time to feel comfortable writing song lyrics. Emotional development was always a huge stumbling block for me. These days, I feel that I'm getting somewhere! As for your lyrics... Honestly, I have always admired them. You have a flair for words, and you create wonderful images and stories. Your novel-writing skills are definitely an asset when it comes to lyrics. All the very best, --Noel

Noel,
It's a song with a bit of a classical feel. Like Schubert. The key changes in the chorus are particularly beautiful. I can feel the influence of classical music there, too. The lyrics, which look straight into the future, are very moving. Enjoyed my listen a lot.
Best regards.
Shigeki Adachi Hello Shigeki Adachi. It's really good to see you. Thank you for visiting the thread and taking time to have a listen. I appreciate your comments about Schubert and classical music. That's definitely not due to me, though. Jean-Paul-Égide Martini who composed "Plasir D'Amour" back in the 1700s is entirely responsible for the overall harmonic ambience of the arrangement As I have no doubt you would have already noted, I did use first inversion chords in a number of places – especially the perfect cadences where I used the progression I—I6—ii6—V7—I. In a couple of places, I also used the classical perfect cadence variation of ii6—I6/4—V7—I progression. Maybe these things helped add to Martini's classical feel. It is always a delight to hear from you. Thank you again! --Noel

It's nice to hear a baritone synth voice. Uplifting message with uplifting music. After listening, I left with an improved and positive mood. Good work!

Hi Noel, Very nice song. The background track is very well done. The strings give the song a lot of depth. Sounds very good. Great production, Noel. Andi :-)

Thanks for wandering into the thread I really appreciate your comments. I'm pretty slow when it comes to production, and I flounder all over the place. I always hope that I get something good in the end. By that stage, though, I'm usually so familiar with the song that I cannot hear it objectively anymore, so it's a lot of guesswork. Thanks for taking the time to have a listen. All the best, --Noel
