I thought the production served the song well.

Hi David,

I spent a great deal of time trying to shape Kevin to get the best performance possible. I found that this song was the most difficult one that I had ever worked on with this vocaloid. The melody and the singing needed rubato because of the nature of the song and its topic, and realistic rubato didn't come easily. To my way of thinking, "This Tree" is not the type of song that has a huge dynamic range as it is meant to be about singing to someone on a personal level. As such, it is not meant for dramatic interpretation. I prepared Kevin's vocals and the production accordingly. Ultimately, Kevin sang as I would have sung the song if I could have done so.

Thank you for taking the time to pass on your thoughts. I always welcome your point of view.

P.S. I am impressed with GSat+ as it's very versatile and offers a useful selection of presets. I've haven't used saturation too much in the past. After watching a number of videos, though, there certainly is merit in using it in various ways in productions.
