Hi All,

Our latest is called BLONDIE PLAYED.

It was winter on the Bowery
Where the snow turned grey
And the streetlights look tired
Everybody’s chasing something
You were up against the door
Smoking that last cigarette
Like it was the only thing
Worth paying attention to
And I thought
Maybe I could be the next one
So I moved over to listen
Yeah just to listen

Inside Blondie was playing
Debbie’s voice cut the static
Telling every lost soul in the room
“You don’t have to stay stuck here forever”
You grabbed my hand and said
“She’s gonna be big someday”
I believed you
But I didn’t say a word
Sometimes silence
Feels safer than talking
I could feel your heartbeat
With every song

Blondie played
And the city shook
We were strangers
Pages in a book
Nothing promised
Nothing made
On the night
Blondie played

I never caught your name
Saw you once months later
Laughing with somebody else
At a bus stop near Astor Place
And I thought
Yeah that’s the way this city loves you
Quick and hard
And then it moves on without apology

Blondie played
And the city shook
We were strangers
Pages in a book
Nothing promised
Nothing made
On the night
Blondie played

Such a cool tune. Great narrative, slinky backing track and spot-on vocals. Those stereo BGVs are insanely good and work perfectly. Love everything about this guys. smile

Hi Bob and Joliz!
There are many things I like about this song…
- Joliz’ cello-like vocal, and how she varies it to create the different textures for verse and chorus
- how to get the most out of a four-bar phrase without it sounding tired
- The rhythm guitar ‘stabs’
- The tone of the solo guitar
- A great example of the song title in the chorus, and I love how the bookending of the chorus uses the phrase in slightly different yet authentic forms - the first to start the sentence and the second to end the sentence.

Excellent.

Bob,
C'mon and tell us, your real last name is Dylan isn't it! Seriously Bob, you are a heck of a song writer!
You and Joliz collaborated on a lovely tune here! Loved that creative intro!

The build to the sung section was superb... then BOOM: melody for the melancholy to hang on. F.A.B. Bob.

Classic Bob and Joliz. Was this a style you created? Fantastic as usual. I also see you're using the Waves Vocal Rider. Love that little plugin.

I'm awestruck. Your storytelling lyrics are always unique and the atmosphere you create in your songs oozes vibes and soul. Joliz adding harmony vocals always perfectly adds to the atmosphere and vibe. This song is excellent and that guitar immediately had me imagining George Harrison also standing there while Blondie played! laugh It would have been great to hear Blondie play in their early years. While "Parallel Lines" was an album of ace hit songs, my favourite is still their 2nd album, "Plastic Letters". … Well over half a lifetime ago for me!

#92: Be Love Now, the rest will come on its own.

Bob and Joliz produce another masterpiece. I have said this before but you are as good as a story teller as John Prine was, and that is a very good thing. Super vocals, arrangement, instrumentation, lyrics, and mix.
Loved it

Haha. Yesterday I wrote you guys the most adoring comment. Came back to see how you reacted, and it looks like another example of me forgetting to push Post Reply. No way I can recreate it, but you two should know I love it.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Intriguing format, rhyming only on the chorus. Great lyrics. You're somewhere between Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen. Fine company, to say the least.

Bob & Joliz ...

WOW is what comes to mind. Just WOW!

You have such a unique style, and you can write a lyric like no one else. You are seriously talented. Joliz adds just the right amount of complement to your lead vocal. Every song you write tells a story that simply draws the listener in and puts him/her in the middle of the story. You are Picasso with a pen rather than a brush.

You should be discussed in the same breath as Prine, Dylan, Joni, Kristofferson, Paul Simon.

Joliz sparkles.

Bob, I would love to be able to tell stories like you do.
The spoken lyrics are perfect and make them much more intense.
