Marty, you are one of a kind! I love your vocal treatment. I was totally on the wacky ride with you...a backseat driver on Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. Love the line "If we lose our way, we open up our inner GPS." HAHA, Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. Oiy, what a life. Yeah, it's interesting to see how the inner map changes as we age. Thanks, Beth Mr Musical Fecundity. You're rolling them out but each one lifts the already dizzying heights another notch. A template for the rest of us. Always a set of words with their own highways, byways & forks. Exc. Ha! I'll give ya fecundity. Thanks, Ray. One day I'll say, "Stick a fork in it; this road is a dead end." Marty, I really liked the beat--got me from the very beginning! I figured your vocal "slides" paralleled the pedal steel guitar--cool idea! Thanks for posting another excellent project! Thank you, Tom. They say it's a one-way street, so I never go more than one way at a time. Marty,
You always put little clever things in your tunes! For me in this one it was the little yodel vocal lines and words interspersed throughout! Ole buddy, you manhandled that bass (very nice job)! All instrument choices worked for my taste, especially the pedal steel! Marty, your songs are always entertaining all well worth the listeners time to enjoy! Keep on rockin' TB Thanks so much, Torrey. I'll be rockin' on rocking runners until I have nothing left to =mc2. Hi, Marty. This chugs along with a cool rhythm. Vocals are cool, and the lyrics as inventive as ever. Love the upbeat sound! Thanks, David. Chugs --wish I thought of that. The video would've been better with model T's. Or maybe starting there and ending with a chauffer-driven Bentley.

You know that title has another meaning (nudge and wink)! Just a cool driving rhythm section that I love on this one. Good song and it sounds like you had a ton of fun putting this together. Good advice in the lyrics for all to take.

I love it when you show your rockier side and come over to the dark side. Great groove with just the right amount of bumpiness to support the song. Perfect for my next road trip!

I have to admit that I haven't paid enough attention to this song on your new album. It's not a filler track, but rather blends perfectly into the whole. Enjoyable rock tune with driving in mind, yet the theme is excellently introduced with the line "Cruisin' through our life". And life instructions are given as elegant metaphors, finally "All the nasty bumps on our road we paved with love" ends the cruising safely.
And what singing! The melody shows the ups and downs of life and I really like how you bend those long intervals, it feels like you are skillfully drifting those curves of life.
Great band, your bass and Bill's pedal steel are the pistons in the cylinders to give power to this vehicle of life called music.

In most cases, ageing leads to decay. Notable exceptions include a good wine, a fine cheese, and Marty Straub. Nasty Bump is a great example of this. Keep them coming! Thanks, Brian. You are right about wine and cheese. A Road Song. About the road! I enjoyed the Ride (except for that bump). Bass sounds good. Bill's steel, too..(really interesting solo). Good mix.
fj Thanks, Floyd. Well, I live in PA and we have more potholes per capita than anywhere else in the world. Bumps are a way of life here. Even plane rides get bumpier over the Keystone State. That is one cool song and we loved this last verse. It shows how much being with the right co-pilot on life’s road can make a difference: “When our way was blocked with curves we learned to make the turns. All the nasty bumps on our road we paved wtih love”
Enthusiastic cool vocals for the chug-a-lug vibe!
Nice bass (of course) in tone and notes and Bill’s pedal steel sounds excellent. And the BiaB rhythm section was cooking. Good drums too. All sittin' well in the mix on our monitors.
Enjoyed it!
J&B Thanks, Janice & Bud. Always like to end the ride in a happy place. You're right about the copilot. Gotta learn to read each other's inner GPS. Hi Marty.
What a fantastic groove! I couldn't stop my feet from tapping. I love how you've used the extended metaphor! I also love the write, the arrangement and the stellar production. For me, your singing was the icing on a fine cake. The way you performed this and matched your vocals to the mood of the groove was fantastic. It's enthusiastic thumbs up from me!
--Noel WOW, thanks so much for such a knock-me-down comment, Noel. You know that title has another meaning (nudge and wink)! Just a cool driving rhythm section that I love on this one. Good song and it sounds like you had a ton of fun putting this together. Good advice in the lyrics for all to take. HAHA, thanks, Scott. Yep. You'd think that would sell more copies. hehe Yeah, you're right, it was fun to sing and play.

It's all just 256 shades of gray. Enjoy the ride! What a cool groove Marty. Basslines and the chugging guitars were awesome. Another super vocal and lyric. Well done..... Thanks, Scott. Yeah, that one BiaB guitar started the whole idea of the song with his beep-beep kinda sound right in the begining, and I copied it throughout. I have to admit that I haven't paid enough attention to this song on your new album. It's not a filler track, but rather blends perfectly into the whole. Enjoyable rock tune with driving in mind, yet the theme is excellently introduced with the line "Cruisin' through our life". Janne Thanks, Janne. Yep, this driving is a lifetime adventure, and since I'm typing this, it ain't over yet. You're right, the metaphor of "home" is not death-do-us-part, but more of smooth sailing the rest of the way. Glad you heard the singing that was meant to sound bumpy with lots of air time (as the roller coaster fanatics would say). Bill's pedal steel was like the steam roller that flattens the road patches. I'm not usually a fan of what I call Shondell's basslines, but for this one the constant 8th notes (in parts) worked as pistons, as you say. Well said, Janne, and thanks again.
