That’s a fine lyric and delivered with an excellent vocal.

Great group of BiaB session guys and the organ swells are very effective.

We love the arrangement and dynamics - especially on the bridge.

The Oohs and aahs sound are a nice touch.

To quote Torrey, “There are lots of lovely little melodic twists and turns!”
Welcome back and we look forward to the other song in progress!

Late to this party, and love all of this: the vocals (what a delivery!), arrangement, structure, production - it's all there. Great write, too!

My only complaint is that it ends just before the final cadence. Argh! laugh

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

James, WaoBand, TuneMonger, DC Ron, Alan, Herb, BYOBand, ray, Bob, Tano, Marty, Torrey, Mario, Floyd, Knee Wobbler, Scott, Janne, BD, Noel, J&B, and David:

Thanks to you all for the very kind comments on the tune. They are more appreciated than I can say. The musical well remains pretty dry these days, so with what motivation I have I’m trying to focus on some older songs that have never quite come to fruition. This is one, and I’m glad it seems to have worked out well.

Some specific responses to your comments below:

WaoBand: Nice poem . . . and what my heart echoed for many months prior to hanging up my cleats. I have no regrets so far!

TuneMonger: The BGVs are there, but subtle. I find the BIAB Oohs and Aahs to be a bit artificial sounding if too prominent, and here I was just looking to fill a bit on the left side in the bridge and the final lines. Notably, though, I drop them in the last two lines of the bridge, which was intentional.

Alan: Same here. I retired a few years earlier than you, but don’t regret the decision at all!

Janne/Noel: The melody progression in those final two lines of the bridge are my favorite part of the song. It was difficult to get the BIAB to track it the way I play on guitar. It doesn’t quite capture it well in the first line, but better on the second . . . though in full, it sounds better on my guitar. I would have been tempted to play on this one for that reason but I changed the key a tad and got lazy. But I’m happy enough with how it came out.

Part of the challenge is that I’m not schooled in musical theory and often play chords on guitar that I can’t name. So I Google them to find the name of the chord (often getting multiple options), but they don't always quite match what’s offered in BIAB. Sometimes wish I can put in a guitar tab and then have BIAB tell me what the best chord choice is for a given track. Maybe that’s something you can already do, but I’m not aware of it.

P.S. Thanks to others who previously comments on my and ray’s “Walking on Water”. I don’t want to bump it up, but did want to make sure you all know I saw and appreciate your comments.

Stay well and safe all--

Deej

Good, solid composition with 60s flavor. As usual, excellent, powerful vocal. Love that bridge!

Deej,

As everyone in this forum has said, your vocals are absolutely great.
And whenever I collaborate with you invited by Andi (Project M), I'm always amazed by your vocal talent.
This time is no exception.
And the song itself is also catchy, beautiful, smooth, and refreshing.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.
