Latest from Chris, Marty, and myself. Lyric video:

Audio only link: Perfect Lover

The Band:

1719:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm TexasBluesRockStraightSol Ev 120 (I used both the regular and simple version of this RealTrack)
4856:Organ, Rhythm SoulJazzGroovinFunkRHComping Ev 100 (I selected the Held Chords option)

I played the lead guitar and rhythm guitar panned left, and Marty Straub (BabuMusic) played the bass.

Drums: EZDrummer3

Mixed in Reaper using native plugins and plugins from Waves and iZotope, mastered with Ozone 11.

Perfect Lover (2025, Chris Spruit)

You're the calm, when the storm gets loud
a steady Hand when I'm feeling down
Hold me close never let me go
In your eyes I find my home

And when the world' s too much to bear
to know you'll Always be right there
you're more than love you are my best friend
no need for words, you understand

We love and cry, we share the fight
you bring me Peace, bring in the light
Through every Moment I can't deny
Perfect Lover, by my side

You are the voice I hear, when I Need to speak
You are the calm in the chaos, when I'm Feeling weak
There is no judgment in your gentle eyes
to help me realize

You are my friend,
my perfect lover.
This story ends
in no disaster.
Won't mess it up
this time around

Through high and lows you 're by my side
with you around I feel alive

Perfect Lover you're a friend

In every word you Show the care
no Need for more it is all there
no pretending just being real
this is how I to feel

Dave, Chris & Marty,

A killer song with KILLER vocals. The rhythm and lead sections are also tremendous. You are getting some incredible sounds here.

One of your very best! You three should be very proud of this production.

I've probably said this before, but Chris sounds like Pat Benatar to me. Dave sounds only like himself - very distinctive guitarist, I think I'd know him anywhere. Great tune here, a positive blues-rock number. Pro stuff, a pleasure to listen to!

Man, I can't get enough of this song, Dave. Good write, and the best lyrics I've ever heard --especially when Chris sings them. I've learned a lot from you about DAW work, but, yeow, I have a lot more to learn. Great mix and master.

Enjoy whatever happens!

This song is just 100% in all aspects. With Marty as a world class bassist (he plays with his fair bass hanging out [ask him]), you as a world class guitarist and Chris as a world class vocalist and songwriter how could it not be (rhetorical). So grateful for this forum as without it I'd never have heard this most excellent song!

Ya'll are amazin'! Super performances by all, and nice use of BiaB to fill in the spaces. Really love your production: Everything instrument has a place, and nothing ever sounds cluttered. Great song, "guys"!

Dave,

WOW! This is a terrific song. I've always enjoyed Chris' vocals. She has the perfect voice for the songs you all put together.

Your guitar playing always entices my ears.

I particularly like the more forward mix of the drums.

Everything about this production shines. Great work by all of you!

Dave, Chris & Marty, When you three get together I know that I am in for some sweet ear candy and this song really delivers. Outstanding vocal Chris. Marty is a pro bassist and Dave a pro guitarist. Loved the groove on this one, the outstanding vocals, and those sweet guitar leads. All of which sounds liked they were recorded and mixed in a pro studio.
Loved it.

Hi, Dave.

What they said!

Clean mix, good write, solid vocals, excellent guitars, bass holding everything down.

Everything in the pocket. smile

Hi Dave, Chris and Marty,

I really enjoyed the song, the singing, and the guitar playing. This blues genre suits you all perfectly.
But that is not a surprise. You are a good team too! What more lovely words can I add to this?
Perhaps, when Chris sings the "do do di"lines, Dave could have come in with his 'smokey'voice singing the same words...
Is that a great idea or not?

Hans

Dave Chris and Marty,

All 3 of you knocked it out of the park on this! An energetic tune that really showcases your immense talents! Dave that guitar really has a searing tone that is just what this one needs! Chris's vocal is sweet and youthful sounding (my favorite I've heard from her so far)! Marty is so solid as always laying down that foundation! Great job!

Thanks, TB

That is the greatest compliment you could have given me, Bob, so thanks for that!!

I'll pass along your comments to Chris also.

Attitude,

Great drum sound. You use EZD to great advantage.
Excellent Mix.

Really nice opening. Beautifully played and a perfect fit. Lovely tone.

Like the opening, the solo is ...Beautifully played and a perfect fit.
well-thought-out, I'd say....

The touch of wah was an excellent choice! Cool little stabs.

As always, Marty's bass is just-right-in all-ways. Tone and touch. Hellava Bottom.

We are fortunate to have Chris with us (here in the Showcase). QUALITY Rock writing. QUALITY Rock vocals.

Y'all are a QUALITY Band -with a capital B

I find the rhythm guitar RealTracks can tend to be a bit busy sometimes so often make use of the simple version when needed. Thanks, Ron!
