HA! "(I regretted that a few times!)" Know what you mean. But, man, you landed on tthe perfect one for this one. "45 minutes to 4 hours" is another relatable expression. I always like the guitar in front, but you might be right. The whole tune is so pleasent and fits well with so many different flavors of reverie. Does that make sense? This does: love it, Alan.

Well, shoot! Pretty amazing what you can do in an hour off the cuff, Alan. I'm glad you have music to heal the change and fill the loss a little. I think music is the perfect place to channel all of that energy. I liked this as is. It has a really nice mellow feel to it. I might have to try the "spin and win" approach to creating a new song! Seems like a fun thing to do. Hi Beth, Thank you so much. I went back and counted the total number of songs, and it was 31. None of them were "finished" or polished - just taken to the point of a basic WIP. But I am going to select the best 4 or 5 and polish and finish them. This will be one of them. Music has always been my preferred refuge when times were troubled. It's a very cathartic endeavor. M<any thanks for the nice words! Alan

Hi, Alan. Very pretty. It wasn't quite as cohesive as some of your other songs - it was like you have three cool songs all rolled together into one. But that worked for The Beatles, so why not you? Hi, David Like I said, none of these songs were a finished product - pretty raw. But this is one I'm going to go back to and polish a bit. Thanks for the listen and nice comments. I always look forward to your comments. You always have good insights. Best to you, Alan

Alan, that was a fantastic lead guitar instrumental. Loved the laid back rhythm section. You always pick the perfect RTs for your songs. Great mix. Loved it.
PS in 1963 I had a Fender Jaguar then a few years later a Gretsch White Falcon so I know your "I wish I hadn't sold them back then" pain! Hi, Mario, It was so kind of you to write those very nice words about this one. I almost always use at least two tracks from the original style set. Then I typically replace the others or add to them. I appreciate all of that. Thank you! Alan P.S.: I never owned a Jaguar, but my best friend in high school did. My first "real" guitar was a Gretsch Tennessean that my father surprised me with in 1963 when I was 17. I had that until 1969 when I bought a Gibson ES-335 and ES-175. Kinda wishing I had that 175 back, too!

There's a really relaxing flow to this instrumental. One of my favourites of yours. I think the lead guitar is at the perfect level, while I barely noticed the ooohs and aaahs as they blended in perfectly with the rhythm section. Hi Chay, Thank you so much. Flow is so important. Thank you for mentioning that. I'll be over tomorrow (Friday evening) to listen to your current post. Looking forward to it. Alan

Good stuff, Alan! Love the groove. I've made note of that style and will check it out at some point. Not mad about the tone on the lead guitar, a little too harsh for my tastes, but tone is a personal thing. Great playing obviously Hi Dave, yeah, we all have different tastes in the various aspects of music creation. That particular track is hard to EQ because the pitched notes wash out when you cut back on the higher EQ. I'm going to go back and finish this one sometime in the near future. I'll play around with that track and see if I can find a better, more balanced EQ for it. Thanks for the observation. Take care, Alan

Oh, I loved that guitar. Brent is so good. You've given him the perfect musical setting to shine. Well done!! Hi, Bob, Many thanks for all those very kind words. Brent hardly ever fails to deliver exactly as I anticipated. This is a super style by him. I'm delighted you enjoyed it. It's not yet a finished product - still a WIP. I'll be going back to this soon to fine-tune it. Wishing you all the best, Alan

Hmm, in just one hour, I would most likely have only scribbled the rough structure of a song on a piece of paper, nothing more I like your song, it's interesting and never gets boring. I wouldn't change the guitar; I think it sits quite well in the mix. Hey! I appreciate those very nice comments. It's still a WIP, but there's not a lot left to do. I'm going to make a couple of minor adjustments on the mix and do a small bit of EQ-ing on the lead guitar. Thanks again! Alan

Alan...this is the kind of "easy listening" I really enjoy...I think the mix is spot on...I like the simplicity of the piano with the complexity of the jazz guitar...well done! Hello, Dan, Thank you very much. It's very kind of you to say such nice things about this. I'm glad you mentioned the contrast between the lead and the backing tracks. That's one thing I also enjoyed as I put this together. I sincerely hope your wife continues to make progress in her recovery. A good wife is a true blessing. I know mine sure was. We laughed more in a week than most couples do in six months. Best to both of you! Alan

Lovely song, I enjoyed the melancholy feel the title and the SoundCloud picture promised. That chord progression works charmingly, many inventions have arisen by chance, it's like stepping out of the usual patterns into unknown and then fitting that into your normal process, could also happen via subconcious/dreams - I have also hit a "wrong" key and it sounded great.
The band and the mix are very pleasant in my ears and the solo guitarist is an excellent vehicle to carry your feeling. Very professional sounding work, BIAB has been created with love and hard work to be our pro-quality tool and in your skillful hands a masterpiece can easily be composed within hours using it.
Janne Janne, I always enjoy your reviews. You are so good at dissecting the elements of a song and replying in a very constructive way. I've written only one song based on a dream. But I have gotten inspiration from various places: Funny articles on the back pages of a newspaper, billboard signs along the highway, overhearing conversations at the grocery store, etc. The billboard song's idea came as I was driving between St. Louis, Missouri and Memphis, Tennessee on Interstate highway 55, or I-55 as we would say here in the States. It was an advertisement for a Southern Baptist Church. It read: "Join us to receive the gospel with Southern Hospitality". I wrote a song called "Southern Gospetality". Anyway, glad you enjoyed the song. Thank you for letting me know. Alan

Hey There, Marty! This one that came up in my "roulette song project", as Beth called it. I like that annotation! Thus, the style was predetermined. I swapped out a couple of instruments, typed in a chord pattern, clicked on "Generate", and voila! I like your word "pleasant", that's a very satisfying term. Thank you! I always appreciate hearing from you, my friend! Wishing you & yours the very best, Alan

Bob's been quoted and we'll do it again: "No one can coax emotions out of an instrumental piece like you can."
You have been a master of all BiaB productions for years. On this one the solo guitar really shows the finesse of RT's. Not everyone can nail a mix with such a great solo.
No need to parse things out. It's an excellent production in all aspects. What a wonderful way to help ease you through such a difficult period.

J&B Hi, Folks ... Hope all is well with you. I'm getting better. That's very kind of what you said. I like to think my mixing is getting better - sure needed to. Thanks for the encouragement that I might be going in the right direction with that. You know my recording process is, at best, Neanderthal-like. So, my mixing needs to be decent. I guess I'm quite fortunate that chord structure and patterns come to me pretty easily. I have Cakewalk and Studio One DAWs - Cakewalk is already loaded on the computer. So, I might give it another chance. I think the biggest advantage for me is the availability of third-party plugins. Not having that limits what I can do to better construct a product that's even closer to my anticipation for the finished product. Anyway, many thanks. Wishing you the very best. Alan

This is one of my favorite things to do with BIAB. Excellent piece Alan.. Hi Scott, I'm delighted you like the song. I kinda like it too. Gonna work with some more to polish a bit. And yeah, some of those obscure stylers can make you stop and think, "What the heck do I do with this!" Bit it's fun and cathartic for me. Take care, alan
