The 3rd, last and I think the best of the "Flowing Lady Deya" versions.

Going back almost a year ago I in turn hired 3 different Fiverr female vocalists to sing this final version of "Flowing Lady Deya", the first one, an Asian Indian lady with a very pure voice choosing this version out of the 3 to sing, but while she 100% understood my instructions her vocals in the end didn't suit the piece. The next 2, as stated elsewhere in these forums, were an absolute disaster, nether of them ever understanding the exact same instructions I gave the original 3: the Indian lady and Argentineans Denisse Ferrara and Lucy Rod. Each of these 3 had an incomplete 2023 demo sung by a trained English vocalist, so as by the time I got around to hiring for this strings-based version I had 2 other complete sets of vocals, thus I used Denisse's rock version stem files to demo for this last version. It was only around springtime that I decided to try Lucy's smooth version vocals on this baroque version and I was amazed that they worked even better on this than on the smooth. I'm really pleased with all 3 versions
, but this one is now definitely my favourite.

Other than the title and end title images this video is identical to that of the previous 'rock' and smooth versions so as not to detract from the music and lyrics.

Full lyrics are on the YouTube post.

Cast in order of appearance:

Viola & Violin: Viola & Violin Ballad ~ Avery Bright

Chay, well, if you're going to declare this song finished, you picked an excellent version indeed. Superb vocals throughout. Like the lift when the solo vocals are doubled early on. The string interlude is very cool, too. Nice arrangement and mix, as always. Great job!

Hi Chay
Having heard your other versions of this song, it is good to hear how you develop the same song in different styles and instrument backing. I agree with other posters about Lucy’s great vocals. I particularly loved the harmonies and the ooos and ahhhs from 5:00 onwards.
Well done!

Chay,

That was such a pleasant listen. The vocals were so convincing and well-produced. The vocal harmonies were just perfect.

The mix and presentation shine. Really nice in all respects.

Take care,

Alan

You assuredly made the right choice.
The vocals are excellent and not, as so often, overdone.
The strings are great and really add to the vibe.
The mix is both powerful and lush ... not easy to accomplish.

Enjoyed it!

Hi, Chay.

Lucy sounds very good, as does the string quartet.

I like this version much better than the earlier ones.
I think the more classical instrumentation suits the song better.
I would even remove the organ on the left and replace it with something more traditional (I know you love that organ sound, but still), for example with sustained strings or something like that.

She offers a nice voice but it does sound like it could use some mild editing for breath & sibilant stuff.
When the vocals are stacked they get a bit aggressive as well.
Your arrangements sound much better with a solid melody to hang onto.
Well done.
Indian is Asian...that's one reason India is referred to as a sub continent.

Thanks, Ron. Yep, with 3 versions and ending with the best - which I never expected, particularly as I had disasters with other vocalists - this is a done project.

Thanks, Andrew. It's thanks to BiaB's amazing range of Styles that any song can be remixed an endless different ways. I did that a few times when I first started using BiaB, but now I find it less time-consuming and less complex just to concentrate on one verson.

Really nice, Chay. Ditto to what everyone has said. It was too long for me, that's the only ding I got. Not really a big deal. Great work overall!!

Thanks, Al! Lucy wasn't aware that I finally decided to use her vocals from the 'smooth' version on this and I wasn't sure how she'd respond when I sent her the YouTube link, but she replied "It’s beautiful! I love it!" and she's now considering doing a new song with me which I already have the music for. As I wrote in the blurb, I used Denisse's 'rock' version vocals on the demo for this, but I wasn't going to use them for a finished song as ideally I wanted an English or other British vocalist, but when I experimented with Lucy's vocals I knew I wasn't going to get a better take on it. Having had a couple of disasters with other Fiverr vocalists going back to last October I'm now really glad that the project's finished and that it's ended on such a high note.

Thanks, B.D.! To get a deeper background sound I've recently used multiple different warm pad & strings, synth pads, etc, on 2 new instrumentals and they've worked really well, so I think you're right that at least 1 or maybe 2 sets of synth pads & strings may have worked better than the organ, but this project's now over for me as it began in the early summer of 23 with a brilliant trained English vocalist, but she only recorded half of the lyrics before her husband - who'd actually suggested her - stopped the project.
