We have just witnessed, in our country, some of the most unimaginably evil acts in the last few days. When it seems like darkness is everywhere and there's no way out of the storm..... I just remember who calmed the tempest with his words.

I started writing this before any of these evil things happened. Perfect timing.

Through The Storm

AI was used in this in some aspects of the production of tracks.
BB tracks:
1760: Fiddle
0688: B3
2324: Synth strings
Cello: Me (kontakt)
All guitars: Me
Vocals: Josh

Comments welcome

I haven't made a video in years.... but here it is:

Wow. What and epic and majestic song! Love the opening and solo, incredible vocals, but it's 100% on all aspects. Truly well done!

Hi Herb!
This is a well written and produced song. A good touch to put the cello snippet of Amazing Grace in the outro. Other standouts for me were the ‘oomph’ you gave the toms and I love the step /slide down in the solo you used several times in that passage. Of course, the sizzle of the cymbals in the chorus as well.

I was reflecting on the genre of the song, and to my Australian ears, I’d call it country crossover, but simply that because of the southern(?) accent of the singer. Put any different vocal to it and it would be called classic pop rock - I think. I’m always interested in elements of music that define a genre.

Great song and put together well!

Wonderful work, and a message so needed right now. I can't identify a single element of this that wasn't completely outstanding. It's often the case that "message" lyrics, like this one, include some awkward or forced words/rhymes in order to state the message, but this was very clean, so singable, and professional. Great work!

Herb, very cool tune with an "Amazing" ending. We could certainly use more divine grace in these troubling times.

Nice dynamic flow that almost seems to peak too soon but recovers to glide to a smooth finish. Josh's vocals have an otherworldly strength and range. The vocal jump at :44 over "this will last" sounds like the usual autotune heard on a lot of modern country tunes. But that style of jump is not repeated elsewhere in the song, which makes it sound like a glitch and not a feature on reflection. Not a complaint, just an observation.

Super song, exceptionally well produced and performed. Congratulations!

Hi Herb,

Wow, what can I say?? Very touching and so important for songs like this to be sung...ones that acknowledge the challenges of life but that are full of the promise of faith. This so deserves to be viral. I wish I had the platform to make that a reality for you. Really beautiful! If it was on Soundcloud, I'd add it to my forum faves list. Final touch...just wow.

I appreciate your comments.

That cello outro started as piano but didn't sound right. Cello worked so much better.
Those huge drums. Compression, EQ, verb.

This is what is referred to as CCM. Contemporary Christian music. It's a wide ranging genre. This one falls on the heavy rock side of the genre. In the genre, guitar solos tend to be understated. More of a filler than a display of 6 string skills.

Hopefully, that clarifies it a bit.

Thanks for listening and inquiring.

Hi Herb,
Absolutely great song.
Sounds totally professional.
The guitars are really cool.
Great ending.
One question: Is Josh a “real” singer? Or AI?
That's hard to tell these days ;-)
Great work, Herb.

Great song, amazing energy, brilliant singer, VERY cool guitar playing!
Very contemporary minus the snare (sounds more like the 80s than the 2020s), I'd use one with less reverb/sustain.
Nevertheless, easily my new favorite of yours smile[Linked Image - Only viewable when logged in]

Herb what an outstanding song.
Josh's vocal, your guitar, and the mix all were outstanding but the lyrics made it for me. They are so true.
You heavy rock side of Contemporary Christian music is second to none.
A truly outstanding song.
Loved it.

Thanks. I agree. Forced or lazy rhymes aren't going to cut it. You just have to work with the lyrics, rewriting as needed.

Thanks. I listened to the part you mentioned and didn't hear anything that sounded like an auto tune jump. So I soloed the track and listened. Still not hearing it. It could be an interaction with something in a different track. More than once I've heard things that sounded like glitches that turned out to be tracks interacting with each other.
I appreciate your attention to details. I'm glad you liked the song

Perfect timing indeed, Herb. Passionate vocal and inspiring lyrics. Dang what an incredible vocal range with superb quality low to high -- and VERY high. Outstanding guitar accompaniment. It's songs like this that remind me not everyone has gone mad. Thanks, Herb.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Hi Herb,

What a wonderful song. The way you sing it is awesome! The band is great!!!
Completely different from what I expected. But I think the new times need more 'shouting out'.
And I like that ending of the song very much...

Thanks BYOB. It would be nice to have a viral song. It is now on YouTube as well. You can follow it there. Share with enough people and who knows, it might even get one hundred listens. 😂

Herb,
I’d love to have your filler guitar skills any day! Just watched your video - it gives good support for the song with some movement in the backgrounds but not enough to distract. Good timing on the on-screen lyrics that pop in just at the right time. I gave it a like and a view on its way to 100.

A BIG modern country praise song.
If only the chorus could be real.
