HI Ron,

Yeah, Larry is a very talented musician. I started listening to him about 15 or 18 years ago. Glad I did!

And yeah, Brent gave me some stuff to work with. He's not too shabby.

It's nice to read about the mix and clarity you perceived as you listened. what more could i ask for?

Many thanks,

HI Chay,

Many thanks for the nice words. Sure do appreciate it!

I'll be over to hear your latest real soon. My time here for the next 5 or 6 days will be limited - lots of legal issues in progress since Di's death. But I'll be over soon.

Great work on that bass and drums. Along with the guitar it does sound like a Carlton song; I like him also!
As mentioned this does sound like it was recorded live. Add some bar noise (talking and drinking glass sounds) and you would have fooled a lot of people.
Outstanding use of RTs and RDs.
Great mix.
Loved it.

Hey, Mario,

Nice to know there's another Larry Carlton fan on the forum! I ran across him about 15 years ago and have been a fan since then.

I'm delighted you like the music! I believe this type of Jazz is an acquired thing, or you're (rhetorically you) )simply a natural fan of Jazz.fan. I appreciate the kindness! Really - I do!

Take care,

Alan

Hi, Marty,

Thank you so much. Brent came through like a champ for me. I might give him a raise - double what I'm paying him now. Woo Hoo!

And yeah, the bass and drums drive this one. The melody's just along for the ride.

Glad ya liked it! Take care, my friend.

Your notes on the drum mix are interesting, especially since we don't have all drum stems with BIAB. Or all you doing something different? Lots to enjoy here, I'm listening multiple times. Stellar work.

Hey, Bob,

Yeah, I know what you mean about that name thing. I'm not smart enough to be confused with AI. Asfar as the name, I'm good with it either way, but I agree with you now that AI is such big thing - and it's gonna be for a long time.

As far as the drums, I have nothing but BIAB and a decent of how to mold them. I don't use a DAW, unless you want to call Audacity a DAW. Very little third party enhancements show up on my music. I have Cakewalk loaded on my computer, but have no idea what-so-ever how to use it. But I do have access its plugins. But they're pretty basic.

Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for letting me know.

Best to you,

Alan

Good day, Carl (still night over here),

Your very kind and supportive words make me smile! I don't have any special secret to what I do. It's very basic. I've just learned how to mold a few things in the program to meet my needs (most of the time). I played country music almost all my life. I love it. But I also love many other genres. I'd play Merle Haggard, Buck Owens,.Tammy Wynette songs for 4 hours and then listen to Chuck Mangione or Lew Rawls on the way home after a gig.

Thank you so very much for the kind visit and nice words. I appreciate that very much.

Alan

Hi, Donny,

Thank you very much for the kindness. I appreciate it very much.

Floyd,

I'm pretty much lost for words (that doesn't happen very often) to reply to you.

All of what you said means a lot to me - and I'm sincere when I say that.

I have no secrets - don't even use a DAW, so third-party enhancements are very rare in my musical efforts.

I simply have taught myself to know chords, how to use them, and how to apply them. Everything else is heart, gut, and ears. And that seems to work adequately. You know the old adage: if it walks like a duck, looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck .................

When it sounds right to me, I leave it alone and do whatever is next. As I've said before, I'm not a perfectionist. And that saves me a lot of time. A good sense of chord structure and chord patterns helps. I',m 99% self-taught. Don't read, write, or compose using notation. I could go on, but you get the idea.

Thank you again. I am humbled.

Best to you.

Alan

Yes, very nice use of those real tracks Alan to capture that jazzy feel.

I have an idea for some song lyrics that might work for this tune.

He was a hard-headed man, he was brutally handsome
And she was terminally pretty
She held him up and he held her for ransom
In the heart of the cold, cold city

Driving in the fast lane!
Surely make you lose your mind!

Well that's all I can think of, see what you can do with that.

Hi ray,

Many thanks. That was the exact scene I had in mind - driving along a coastal highway, wind blowing through the driver's hair, and everything is just right.

Glad you liked it.

Take care,

Alan

Hi david,

Hey - thanks a bunch. I like that starter for a lyric. I hadn't intended for it to have a lyric, but what you offered as a starting point is pretty danged cool! I'll see what I can do. So, somewhere down the road, don't be surprised to hear it with a lyric. I appreciate thast. and glad you liked the song.

Again, Many thanks!

Hey Alan,

I was trying to be goofy just a little bit. I'm not sure you want to use that lyric cuz I don't think the Eagles would be very happy about it come to think of it.

Hey David,

believe it or not, I'd never before heard this song by the Eagle. I can'[t remember which rock I was under at that time. Must have been a big one!

BTW, I always love your humor. Hard to do, but it's goofy, yet sophisticated. You pull it off well.
