Congrats on an excellent production - excellent in all respects. I particularly like the solo piano ending.
Wishing you the very best,
Alan
Thanks Alan,
Perhaps I'll morph into a version of Punk Floyd on a coming song!
You're very generous.

Ray, loved the intro and ending. The entire song is great. Super vocal and backing band. The mix was spot on and the video was perfect.
A fantastic song.

Hi, Ray.

I could actually hear your vocals! Kudos to Fran for that. Keeping everything else at a low volume helps.

This has your fingerprints all over it, but with a quiet sound and clarity.

Nice work.

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Hi Ray.

Wow! I don't know what you have in the water up there in Queensland, but I'd love a few bottles of it! This is an excellent presentation in every way. I loved the introduction and the way it led into the song. The Martin Luther King Jnr inspired opening was was awesome. What a brilliant way to set the tone and the mood. The production shines. You, Marty and Misha have done a superb job.

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this.

Hi Ray, the first time I listened to your song was nearly a week ago. I was impressed! So much of Pink Floyd. And here I read in the posts, I wasn't the only one. And, when listening again, the feeling stayed the same...
The use of that recording from Martin LK was very creative, although I remember it was used before in some song I now can't remember. But now it's needed more, having that kind of dreams.
Good song Ray!

ray,

Sounds Fantastic in phones.
Sweet Bass.
Good drum sound (could be louder smile )
Everything else is blended perfectly into cohesive-single-sound-unit.
Solo sounds terrific. Nice choice of lines.

Some of the opening piano notes have a short duration that sounds "forced" (lacking "flow"), unnatural.

Love your vocal on this. Keep doing this.

Excellent mix.

A very enjoyable listen.

A true magnum opus for you, Ray. Great message piece. Piano was haunting. Excellent video. Can't say enough good about it, well done!

Ethereal but very sad song with timely message. You have used those spoken parts effectively by echoing certain parts. The contrast between clouds and the horrible events in the video is a strong statement.

Great band, outstanding solo guitar. Very nice piano, its sound together with the chord progression creates a ghostly feel. Your voice is haunting and fits perfectly in the overall mood. And the song is not that long, I was surprised how quickly the end came. An ambitious and very successful project.

Thanks FJ,
Whilst I didn't mix this in headphones I did use them often to ensure it translated well in them.
The opening piano notes were doctored. I had a nice, flowing bed that juxtaposed with the narrative but decided that was too PF so opted to edit in some slight adjustments that nudged that flow a little of kilter, in a way that would worry the close listener...a bit of foreshadowing so to speak.

Cheers

Two quarts of effort or Smith & Wesson revolver work?
Thanks TM,
it's certainly lengthy.
It was also quite cathartic as a process.

Thank you sir,
I THINK I managed to make an eight minute song that sounds only six!
The solo guitars were a near perfect fit - very little editing was required - always a bonus when the BIAB jigsaw has all the pieces.

POWERFUL!

From lyric to band to vocals to amazing video to mix and mastering, this is excellent.
Man, talk about a song that sticks with you ... this is it!

Topical to the max.

Pink Floyd? Well yeah a bit but for us it's Ray all the way!

Kudos!

Truly a masterpiece, Ray. I can't of a better lead-in than the MLK speech. Excellent work splicing in the sound bites. Funny, earlier today, I was disgusted by the outrage over the shooting of one man, but the slaughter of hundreds of school children is met with silence by the same people. OK, I won't rant. Your song nails it. Most of what I typed is not too eloquent today, but you get the gist.
