Hi, Chay. I really like the instrumentation and production in this very 70s disco sounding song - I can imagine Barry White singing it - but there's something about SynthV vocals that don't work for me. I suspect that it works a lot better in Japanese language songs than it does In English, but I always find with others SynthV vocals posts that there's no emphasis on syllables which should be emphasised as a real singer would emphasise them, plus not necessarily in this case, but I've found in others songs the final word or syllable at the end of lines so often sounds flat. Otherwise the song is great and really evokes that era. Well, as long as the synth vocalist demos the song without being too distracting, it's a success. Japanese is much different than English in a lot of ways that lend itself to being simpler to synthesize. There are less phonemes in Japanese, and for linguistic reasons, less phoneme combinations. It also lends itself to syllabic synthesis. Emphasis comes from a number of sources, by primarily from the location of the word on the beat. It also takes into account syllable length and note pitch relative the prior pitch. I'm not hearing the issues you are with emphasis - at least, not on this song. I suspect what you're hearing is the fact that it's synthetic. I have heard issues with this in songs by non-native English speakers. But it's not a failing with SynthV, it's just that those writers don't hear the emphasis and stress of the words the same as an native English speaker. SynthV can't correct this, because it would typically be fixed by moving the position and duration of notes. A lot of this is subjective. For example, I spent a fair amount of time on this song making sure that the phrasing sounded natural. Well, as natural as I could make something that's obviously artifice - words in a sung form. Plus, there were things that when sung by this particular voice didn't sound right, so I changed them to better match the singer. But again - it's all subjective, and the voice is synthetic, and there's no getting around taht. So the uncanny valley is going to come poking through in places. That's why some people are doing their songs in SynthV, and then taking them to finalize the vocals. Suno simply has better voices than SynthV. Thanks for your feedback, I appreciate it!

Hi, Mario. David, this is fantastic. You did one hell of a job on those synth voices, they sound so real - brilliant work on that. Thanks! An outstanding backing band. Well, you know who the credit for that goes to. Yes this does have a touch of the Bee Gees in it, please take that as a compliment. Taken as such, thanks! Always good to hear! (Pun not intended). IMHO this is your best to date. Thanks again for the kind words, I really do appreciate it!

Oh, I like it BiaB comes up with a style that we didn't intend to write, and you shine on this one for sure, David. Excllent lyrics and melody. Good backing band and you fashioned an excellent vocal. This one has a great feel that I remember so well. Seriously, David, this is sucha catchy song with the kind of hook that works well walking down the sidewalk on a sunny day just be happy to be alive.
Still I'm waiting for your "heart wrenching confessional song of sad beauty."

We laughed out loud when we read this in your delightful back story: “Hurrah! St. Cecilia, Patron Saint of Musicians, be praised!”
All the effort you did worked a charm The vocalists sound fine with plenty of nuances. The lyric was right up the romantic Janice’s alley! Great.
The overall feel was reminiscent of the Jackson 5’s best songs and we could almost see them dancing and singing during the song. And the Bee Gees come to mind.
Excellent production with a dynamic mix that pops in the good way. Great band all around and the bass sounds great on our subs. it's not boomy and cuts. Often that is not an easy task.
Enjoyed it!

PS Enjoyed your narrative and mix info.

LOVE the Production.
Listening with phones, the soundscape was delightful. Full, spacious, airy, multicolored. Looking at the RT list afterwards, I use surprised there were not more keys. They seemed to be dancing everywhere... And the guitars were perfectly spaced and weaved into the keys... Terrific bass sound. Nice vocals and harmonies. A very cool song.
A great mix.

Super catchy, David. I now long to hear it sung by a real voice, but I know that's not always possible. I was hearing the Jackson 5 too, like J&B. Interesting tangent (I love a good history lesson of the saints). I don't have a cherry tree, but my yuzu needs pruning.

Hi David,
A real Bee Gees revival with your song, although the voices are a bit lower ;-) A cool song, nice melody and very nice vocals! I'm also glad a lot of the forum still know the BeeGees and connect them to this song. I was a fan of them for years. I could even sing that high, but that has changed a bit...

Ah, classic 70's soul Enjoyable chords and the uplifting chorus are the highlights. Nicely flowing groove and the mix sounds great. Very good selection of instruments, I guess searching 70s & soul helped a lot Just wondering, did you think of adding lush string and horns, to get even closer to Philly Soul (led by your title to Ain't No Stopping Us Now...)? Good work with the vocals, I liked the low register of the lead vocalist and those sweet harmonies. I read your notes and thought how much work you put into the details, but that cannot be heard in the end result, a smooth and effortless song with pleasant modulations Janne

David, Cool uplifting 80s soul vibe tune. Very well articulated. To my taste, claps work very well. Actually I would prefer them louder, more on top. Also, I think vocals could be slightly airier, but it might be a headphone thing. One of the best tracks I've heard by you. 2 spins. Enjoyed it and thank you for sharing,
Misha.

All the effort you did worked a charm The vocalists sound fine with plenty of nuances. The lyric was right up the romantic Janice’s alley! Great. I had a lot of fun working with the (synthetic) singer. It's always nice to push the phrasing and see what happens. In this case, it seemed to suit her well. The overall feel was reminiscent of the Jackson 5’s best songs and we could almost see them dancing and singing during the song. And the Bee Gees come to mind. Those BiaB guitars are a lot of fun. The main thing it lacks is a killer bass line. The 70's were great for that! 🎸 Excellent production with a dynamic mix that pops in the good way. They seemed to be dancing everywhere... And the guitars were perfectly spaced and weaved into the keys... Terrific bass sound. Nice vocals and harmonies. A very cool song. Thanks! It was nice doing something with a strong chorus for a change. I think there were two reasons why you didn't see as many keys as you heard. One was that I was ping-ponging one of the keyboards between speakers. The other was the chime-y guitar acted as a chameleon to fool the ears. Something I aim for, but don't always achieve. I was really happy with how this turned out. Thanks again!

I don't even have a cherry tree. We tried growing an apple tree, but it turned into a grumpy shrub instead. Thanks for your comments!

One of these days I'll have a go at a production with horns. This one seemed fine without horns. Good work with the vocals, I liked the low register of the lead vocalist and those sweet harmonies. I think she's got a bit of an Aretha Franklin vibe, which is a lot of fun. I read your notes and thought how much work you put into the details, but that cannot be heard in the end result, a smooth and effortless song with pleasant modulations Thanks! It's a measure of a true performer (not me) that can make playing look so effortless. Then you try it yourself, and find out it's not as easy as it looks! Thanks for stopping to comment!

Hi, Misha. David, Cool uplifting 80s soul vibe tune. Very well articulated. To my taste, claps work very well. Actually I would prefer them louder, more on top. Ha! And here I was, dialing them back. Sometimes it's hard to tell how much is too much. I'll keep that in mind for the next song with claps. Also, I think vocals could be slightly airier, but it might be a headphone thing. One of the best tracks I've heard by you. 2 spins. Enjoyed it and thank you for sharing, I didn't listen in headphones, so yeah - it might need a bit more 'verb. I'll keep that in mind (again) for the next time around. I need to lean into more "fun" songs for a change. Thanks for digging this out deep from the bottom of the threads!

This kindles memories of my teenage disco years. I can see the mirror ball spinning. Production is ace with the instrument spread and clean sound. There are phrases where the synth voice sounds human with the way it approaches the notes and the dynamic of the vocal changes as it moves through the notes.
