Hi Herb

An epic sound right from the outset. A really big sound and great production. Really kept me listening till the end. The moment of quietness just before the end was a great contrast, only to have it come on strong again to close.

Great song, kind regards.

Great ending.
One question: Is Josh a “real” singer? Or AI?
That's hard to tell these days ;-)
Great work, Herb.
Andi ;-)

Thanks for listening and commenting.
Playing the guitars was really fun.
Josh is in fact an AI vocal. One of the best ones I've heard to date. Just one year ago this level of quality wouldn't have been possible.

Very contemporary minus the snare (sounds more like the 80s than the 2020s), I'd use one with less reverb/sustain.
Nevertheless, easily my new favorite of yours smile[Linked Image - Only viewable when logged in]

BD....thanks. one of your favorites .... That is a great compliment.
The guitar parts.... I must have recorded a lot of tracks that all got scrapped. In the end ... It was a basic, simpler approach, nothing fancy that finally got the job done. My tele along with the spark 40 and a Fishman amp model and I think the Quilter DA as well. 4 tracks total for guitar but some only have parts scattered. 2 are the foundation.
I had a good time with the guitars....

A truly outstanding song.
Loved it.
Indeed. The lyrics have a powerful message. One of my favorite CCM bands is Skillet. They rock heavy and have a powerful message in their songs. Several years ago I did a Skillet influenced version of "It is well with my soul".

And I like that ending of the song very much...

Herb,
I’d love to have your filler guitar skills any day! Just watched your video - it gives good support for the song with some movement in the backgrounds but not enough to distract. Good timing on the on-screen lyrics that pop in just at the right time. I gave it a like and a view on its way to 100.

Thanks again Andrew. I'm certainly not proficient with video but it was kinda fun tackling the new challenge.

I like to mix while envisioning a live band performance. If this was my band, on stage, how would I want it to sound? With that in mind, I mix.

Thanks for listening

Herb,

One of the very best Christian Country songs I've ever heard. Everything about this shines. It's big, it's strong, it's melodic, the vocal is excellent, the arrangement & mix are standout.

The message rings strong, and music such as this are great conduiits for the message.

Excellent all facets. Well done. Standing O.

Alan

Hi, Herb.

I'm late to this rodeo.

Excellent prosody. Amazing guitars. Big production.

The vocals are great, but I think I've been listening to AI vocals too much - my brain is turns off and the vocals become part of the background instead of the forefront. Which is irritating, because the vocals - especially the lyrics - are really good here.

Excellent work.

Thanks Dave. Better late than never or so I'm told. It's a lot of fun for me to play guitar so I was enjoying every single minute of tracking those guitars.
When the AI generated vocal is as good as this one, I'm still amazed at the quality of it, even after hearing it hundreds of times.

Thanks for listening and commenting.

Whoa dude!!

Was that you on that intro guitar??

That was freaking killer man. This is one of the best displays of tight and controlled playing and crisp, layered, inventive and powerful arrangement I have heard on the forum in while.

The song is almost a master class on what to play and what not to play. You truly have the master touch with this type of production.

I guess I'm going to have to call you the master of reason and rhyme! And speaking of being the master of reason and rhyme, those lyrics are gorgeous and simply unparalleled. Again a masterclass in how to construct something that's catchy and powerful, as opposed to being self-conscious and self-absorbed and self-congratulatory.

You are truly the great player and the great teacher! I'm looking to start writing a couple of new tunes here in the next few weeks but I'm certainly going to stand in humility in the face of this baby!

Keep on kicking out the hits man cause we certainly need to have you around showing us how it's done!!

Honored.... Humbled.... I'm glad you found this and took the time to listen and comment.

To respond to your comments and questions:

Yes, I did play ALL of the guitars on this. The secret, if there is a secret to playing the guitar or any other instrument, is to know the scales and the pentatonic boxes but to use them appropriately and find things that fit rather than forcing something that doesn't really work. Don't be afraid to color outside of the lines but keep it tasty.

Keep on writing. I'm looking forward to what you come up with.

Thanks again

202 New RealTracks Released with Band-in-a-Box 2026!

With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!

Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!

Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.

Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.

Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!

And, if you are looking for more, the 2026 49-PAK (for $49) includes an impressive collection of 20 bonus RealTracks, featuring exciting and inspiring additions to add to your RealTracks library. You'll get new country-rhythm guitar styles from PG Music favorites Johnny Hiland and Brent Mason, along with modern-pop grooves that capture today’s radio-ready sound! There are also new indie-folk styles with guitar, bass, 6-string bass used as a high-chording instrument, acoustic guitar, and banjo. Plus, dedicated "cymbal fills" RealDrums provide an added layer that work very well with low-key folky styles with other percussion.

The 2026 49-PAK is loaded with other great new add-ons as well. Learn more about the 2026 49-PAK!
