Not sure if I done this request before...

One of the main features of BIAB is abundance of styles. Great thousands. I would like to have an easy access to favorites per project. Meaning, to be able to save "favorites" list of styles to project, not global.

As of now, it seems there are three main venues for this and each has significant flaws:
Existing "favorites", which is a global list, that could have 99% of styles that will not work for current project.
Saving project "Save As" as soon as you think something might work. Then you have to reopen each of these to audition.
Write the name of the style in the note pad and then recall through search.

I believe having per project "favorites" will make life easier.

P.S. Same goes for RTs/Midis. While we have a good number of mixer tracks and you can kind of "workaround" the issue by having place holders and freezing tracks, so they don't use computing power on (re) generations, still a good idea to have "per project" RT's favorites, without loading them all into mixer.

Thank you for considering.

The existing Favorites list defaults to global but can also be set for individual projects. Used for individual project setting will track and save all recently used/reviewed Styles and any Style selected as a Favorite. Both groups of Styles can be saved as a Set. (.fts file) associated with the individual project.

I use the Project Name.fts format and these set files can be loaded and saved from the Recently Used/Favorites Dialog Windows. (ie: Winter Wonderland.fts for the song project, Winter Wonderland )

When you return to a project in the future, load the associated FTS file for that project.

Saving the current global set file prior to clearing the dialog windows restores the global Styles after working on a project.

This appears to align with your request. If not, just explain the differences for the developers.

There's a workaround for RealTracks that can be used for a per project placeholder for storage.

For a per-project RealTracks list, it's a good workaround available with certain requirements.

For RealTrack instrument tracks storage per project, each of the 24 tracks has a 10 instrument sub-mixer window. This provides 264 slots that RealTracks can be placed on and selecting settings so only the original RealTrack plays so they operate essentially for storage of alternate RealTracks for each RealTrack Mixer Channel and are saved with the project. To use this feature for RealTrack instrument storage only; Mute the track

For every track you use, first assign a RealTrack in order to enter the RealTrack Dialog page where the RealTrack Medley Maker is located.
On the RealTrack Dialog Page, select the Settings Button to access the RealTrack Medley Maker.

Any Mixer intended to play during Playback or Rendering, the requirements are setting the playback to change instruments by selecting 'Chorus' from the dropdown window and using the original Channel RealTrack twice for whatever the number of Choruses of the song are set to. For a Chorus set to 1, the first and second slot must be the same because if the Ending setting is on, this will cause the second instrument on the sub-mix slot to play the ending. For example, a Mixer Track with a RT4000 Sax, the track below it on the Medley Maker sub-mixer will also have RT4000 Sax, to have continuity of that instrument playback.

+1.
I would like this feature to simply add to the project list only those styles that I would consider as a true favourite for the project and not as as now when it add every opened or recently used style (as I understand it), the later only means I have to clean the project favourite list everytime I try something new.that do not fit

Charlie... I am not looking for workarounds, nor complex, deeply hidden, unorthodox (in software world) operations. I doubt anyone on this forum, but selected few want unneeded complexity. I am offering a simplified suggestion. Kindly respect the wish, even if some kind of workaround is available.

Likely some people would like to use "global" favorites for Styles and tracks, but my humble guess, most of us use favorites on individual composition basis. If the feature is considered, there should be a global and persistent (that doesn't auto reset) Library toggle that saves "favorites" meta data for all content per individual project, flipping toggle would reveal global list, including individual project favorites as well.

< I am not looking for workarounds, nor complex, deeply hidden, unorthodox (in software world) operations. >

That's why I responded. It isn't a workaround, it's definitely a BIAB feature. It's operation is described in the manual and help file. It works exactly as you and Shlind have described you would like it to perform. It's displayed on both the Recently Played Styles and Favorites Dialog Pages.

< I am offering a simplified suggestion. Kindly respect the wish, even if some kind of workaround is available. >

You may just need to clarify your suggestion. Describing the Favorites Dialog being 'global only' is incorrect. It operates as a per-project file too.

< Likely some people would like to use "global" favorites for Styles and tracks, but my humble guess, most of us use favorites on individual composition basis. If the feature is considered, there should be a global and persistent (that doesn't auto reset) >

This suggestion is logical and a useful proposal. The developers may consider a modification to the existing feature to make the per-project feature more visible. Particularly for those who may be auditioning Styles and choosing Favorites across multiple projects globally who aren't currently saving specific project sets.

These files can be saved to and retrieved from any folder or drive on the Computer or externally. The user gets to decide whether global or project specific list is displayed. The global default is logical because it allows for users that may be working on something that initially isn't a project but that becomes a project to be able to save a project file without having to start from scratch as well as using existing Style list to jump start a new project.

Have you tried using it for a project?

Charlie, you are missing main point. This has to be a simple and straight forward, easy accessible process for any type of content.
Not box inside a box, yet inside another box. Simple main toggle Global / Per project. Simple sorting.

This is your main point, correct?

RealTracks was a PS. That's not a main point. Styles, RealTracks and midi are each handled differently in BIAB.

Since Styles were your main point in the title and post. Try this: Type s4 in any measure and enter.

A simple and straight forward, easy accessible process for Recently Used Styles and Favorites.

Charlie,
it is striking to me that we are having this conversation in 2025. Almost a comedy.
If you want to contribute to my wish, be my guest, no need to hijack something that you have no interest in, or can't see value/potential. A simple -1 would do the trick.

Currently, if the process exist, it is obscure, unintuitive and/or requires many steps. I don't want that, nor workarounds (that you keep on suggesting). I want to see positive changes made to BIAB.

<< I want to see positive changes made to BIAB. >>

Your wish is already a stable, working, feature in BIAB. It's not obscure. It's not a workaround, unintuitive nor requires many steps.

Make a list and save that list. It isn't complicated. That's how it works. You should at least try the feature before you dismiss it.

This feature was here when you arrived in 2018 and you have only learned of its existence in 2025. Here's your -1

It doesn't work as I wish it would work. Intuitively.
Charlie, if don't use contemporary software and don't know about accepted standards across many titles / companies, no need to derail other people wishes.

Even if it is possible to save the favourites list per song to disk in the current version, I think it could be made much smoother and easier to use. It is too many steps in the current functionality.
It would be useful if the song/project name was filled in automatically when working on a song (the song opens the song favourite list automatically from start, it follows the song, and saves to the same list if not changed). Now I have to load the list from disk when starting (enter the file name) and also have to enter the "file name" everytime I want to save or update the list to disk. Also I can't save it from inside the style picker list, I have to leave the style picker list and go into a menu outside the style picker to save the list (as I understand it). It would be much simpler if the song name/file name was pre filled in and I only have to use one click to save it.
