Hi Everyone!
This song was written in November 1990 as winter was approaching. I appreciate any help with music, including any suggestions, singing, or arrangements.
While organizing my storage room on a hot day, I found a microphone I'd forgotten, so I mustered up the courage to record it. It's been over 10 years since I last sang, and even I find it challenging to listen to. Below is an English song I wrote using the Synthesizer V, as usual. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________ Original Release : 1990 Copyright : aSoM all rights reserved 2025 E-Mail : asom2me@naver.com & asom2me@gmail.com _________________________________________________________________________ 1.
When the (come) winter comes I (I) Hug an armful of love A street after the first snow under the shy streetlight
After the wind is gone when broken memory comes close to me like stunned breath I while (I while) stroking your lean face say love (say love) to you but when the winter is gone Goodbye-
There are some things I'd do to make it sound better. I apologize if some of this don't translate well.
The main problem is the reverb. It makes the song sound like you recorded this in a big, empty room. While it's good to have reverb, it needs to be the right type, and the right amount. To me, it sounds like there is a bit too much reverb, moving everything too far away.
That's true with both versions. Since I have no I idea what the English vocals as when the SynthV voice sings it, I prefer the version with your voice.
There are also some places where the music seems to be clashing with the vocal, like at 0:30, 0:34, 0:50, 1:50 and 2:08 in the SynthV version.
Hi aSom! I prefer your own sung version - the words flow so much smoother. Thank you also for the translation. I agree with other feedback about your vocal treatment - reverb etc. You must have been very prolific in your younger years - thanks for bringing all these songs for us to listen to. Are you still writing songs nowadays? Andrew
I agree with Mario: I think it's a song which has great potential.
Some favourite Waoist Adages: #1: Play on the Way. #13: Ask not for whom the flower blooms, it blooms for you. #58: Bring consciousness to it. #63: On the road to effortlessness, effort must be made. #92: Be Love Now, the rest will come on its own.
aSom, I also only listened to the live version. My take on your voice: I will always want to hear the composers voice, if possible. That’s the best way to get the feel across. And, anyway, some of us who are not performers aren’t trying to win a contest and make lots of $$, we are trying to articulate our musical idea, so we shouldn’t stress out about our vocals! Thanks for sharing your work!!

asom2me, Interesting tune. Reminded me of Leonard Cohen style. As others mentioned, it has a lot of potential. I would suggest exploring some of Band In a Box Real Drums. Thank you for sharing, Misha.
