Hi Ray!
I realise you might be seeking comments on your song - but I am really impressed with your array of protest and message shirts as part of your multi-media presentation! You've either been concerned by many issues over the years, or else you've bought up big at your local op shops. I couldn't read the text on the cream shirt with the peace symbol, but clearly, it's seen some action! I'm still looking for a SA Algal Bloom protest shirt - preferably in a reddish-brown colour of Karenia Mikimotoi.

Thanks Andrew,
yeah, I attended my 1st rally in 1976 at 19. A late starter.
The hard to read one is from 1991 - a PEACE March in Sydney.
For some reason I always bought XL and then, as now, they don't fit and sitting with them on makes me look huge BUT I'm not going to redo those sequences just to flatter myself.
I have a whole bunch I designed & screen printed myself but they're less universal including a really good one my wife & I did in 1989 protesting our own unions acceptance of the NSW Basic Skills testing regime, (we were at the NSWTF Annual Conference debating the issue of actively opposing that regime...it was held over for completion on the final day so we whipped up the Tshirts over night - we lost the debate as High School teacher thought it only fair that primary students be subjected to the same as high schoolers. The T shirts certainly put one or two of the senior officers noses out of joint). It's legend was BASICS KILLS and transformed a pencil into a pistol and a syringe - a little provocatively. We also did a cool one with the legend I'd Rather Be Red Than Dead in response to puerile Dead than Red tosh that was popular in the mid 80s.
The yellow star on read is the Vietnamese flag - I bought it in Hanoi in 91 or 92...a long time ago.
KM is a very interesting brown under the microscope. Good luck with the search...I'm sure someone will have them on ETSY or similar soon.
AND thanks for watching.

Ray, won't repeat previous comments, but love what you've done with this. Super video to underpin a fab song.

Also enjoyed your short history of activism and t-shirts. That's quite a thing to be proud of.

Good stuff, Ray, I missed the original song upload I guess, but it's a good one.

Nice job on the guitars and bass! And nice job on the video too.

Thanks DC,
That 1st rally was a statewide one in my 1st year at a rural teachers college. We all met, there was an almost unanimous vote to strike & rally on the following Friday. Funnily enough 80% of those who voted to strike went home for a long weekend so there weren't many of us at the rally. I learnt something about convenience that day. There was also a "counter rally" where a few of the beerier folk chanted "Save Uranium, Keep Whales in the Ground"...it was funny at the time.
Thanks for your kind words.

Another original song and great production. I guess feeling old when you are is common, but this and your text rub it in as I was 20 on my first protest 54 years ago.

Some favourite Waoist Adages:
#1: Play on the Way.
#13: Ask not for whom the flower blooms, it blooms for you.
#58: Bring consciousness to it.
#63: On the road to effortlessness, effort must be made.
#92: Be Love Now, the rest will come on its own.

That was fun...I especially like seeing someone singing right to the camera like that in their own video...and in so many T-shirts! Like I wrote on youtube, great video, great song, great message. I had a hard time hearing all the lyrics though. It was obvious you were enunciating, so I'm not sure what was done with the vocal to cause that...or maybe it's just me and how I process language. Really like how your channeling the cray cray into music.

Fran put his usual magic touch on your excellent song.

The video clips support the lyric very well and your different t shirts throughout are a great addition!
A reminder like that of how we’ve previously endured difficult situations helps us to remain hopeful for the future.

Kudos!

J&B

PS You and Janice are the same age … Bud is 12 years older and didn’t save the t-shirts but if he had there would be a large cache of them! smile

We shall grow old that are left. Age shall weary us and the years condemn. We rage at the going down of the sun and at the pain in the morning but with our desires and our hopes profound, we shall not quietly pass. (after & with apologies to Binyon).

LOVE the song ... and what a video.

As I've said somewhere else, courage and conscience are required (quite apart from musical skills, which must be a given for something like this) to write something like this. I think you've nailed it. The video is the "cherry on top". Superb job, Ray.

Just WOW. No, not "just." WOW, Ray. What a cool video. Man, I love your mind, and would like it to influence the Collective Consciousness of humans.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Thanks J&B,
It was a quick n easy one - tshirts really became part of the "movement" in the 70s.

I liked the song when you posted it a few weeks back, and I enjoyed your vision for the video---all that meticulous selection and editing of the images.

Hi, Ray.

I enjoyed the song, but had a heck of a time making out the lyrics. Nice work with the video as well.

I got the bright idea I could use YouTube's automatic transcript, and got:

Quote
0:00
Heat.
0:01
[Music]
0:09
Heat.
0:14
[Music]
0:19
Heat. Heat.
0:28
[Music]
0:30
eyes
0:35
Yeah.
0:40
etc.
