I've seen all the answers about syncing midi to audio when recording. But I can't find anything about syncing an audio playback track with a newley recorded audio track. There is no midi involved here BTW. I can run ASIO but sometimes that makes problems of its own. So how do I sync audio with audio when only MME is involved?

I'm confused here Russ. More info please.
You need to use direct monitoring when you record and not listen through the computer. That's the only thing I can think of that you may be doing wrong.

Same bit rate. If its music same bpm too. Probably sounds simpler than it is. I'd try both tracks in Audacity. If they are the same bit rate and recorded at the same bpm you should be able to slide them so they match.

You don't mention whether or not they were recorded on the same software.
Once ur sure about bpm and bit rate, you can import wave on PT or RB from 1:01:01 and then slide 'til they meet. This way you can get around "exporting" from Audacity.

Hmmmmm ... I don't think I made myself clear.
1. Converted a midi/audio song to wave file, music only.
2. Imported the wave file back into RB and recorded my vocal track.
3. Voice played back faster than the music track.
All done with 44.1 bit rate. No midi during the recording. What I need figure out is how to sync my vocal track to the music track. I know you can sync up midi with audio during recording but I haven't seen how to do this with an audio only track to record along with.
Hope that made more sense. And thanks for your help.
BTW I'm using MME during the recording. I have a Soundblaster 7.5 audio/midi card.

When you brought the song back into RB was RB set to the same original tempo? Really shouldn't matter though.If it wasn't the tracks you imported would have been fast or slow to your ears. If it's just consistently out of sync you were listening through the program and not use direct monitor through the sound card.

When you are recording audio using an audio only track for backing the tempo makes no difference. What's funny is, if I use ASIO, I don't have the sync problem. I probably should have used ASIO but I was able to cut and slide the stereo tracks around until they were in sync, pretty much. There are some places where the vocal rushes the audio track a tiny bit but no one but me may notice it.
BTW congratulations on your gig. Keep us all abreast of how it turns out.

That's correct as I said the tempo really doesn't mater. The issue is that with MME/WDM you must direct monitor. With ASIO you can listen through the program.
