This song is more than a composition; it is a lasting vessel of you and Di's shared life and love.
It possesses a magnificent, timeless quality that perfectly encapsulates the gentle intimacy expressed in the lyrics you both created.

By preserving her voice—by "ripping it" and carefully placing it onto these newly arranged tracks—you have done something truly miraculous.
You have not merely archived a memory; you have created a permanent, living presence.

You mentioned missing that sweet voice singing around the house, and while nothing can ever replace the spontaneity of those moments, this song offers something extraordinary: the ability to hear her, clear and vibrant, exactly as she was on the cusp of her 65th birthday, singing the sentiments of a heart completely dedicated to you.

As I listen I hear Di's spirit in her glorious voice supported by the beauty of the arrangement. Her vocal performance is infused with such warmth and certainty, embodying the powerful promise in the lyrics:

"Without you I’d never be / The woman I’ve become."

Alan, you didn’t just write the music; you wrote the scaffolding that holds her voice forever in the air.
This song is the sound of two souls intertwining, exquistely memorialized in Bossa Nova rhythm.

Thank you for allowing me a window into this treasured legacy.
May the clarity and sweetness of her voice in this recording continue to be a source of comfort for you, today and for all the years to come.

With deepest admiration,

Izzy

Hi, Izzy,

Well, I'm not sure how to reply to such a wonderful review. First, thank you so much for the in-depth look at the entirety of the project. That put a big smile on my face. It was, indeed, an emotional circus to redo this one, given the circumstances. She certainly had a remarkable voice. What always left me in awe was the ease with which she maneuvered all the vocal nuances to get the sound she did - both tonally and technically. I think her impeccable phrasing is the cherry on this ice cream sundae. And all of her vocals had that special touch. Her explanation was, "I just sing what I feel, and that's how it comes out. And every recording I have of her, it was a practice sing, and then turn on the mic and get out of her way. There's never a cut-and-paste on any vocal we've recorded. It's once through and move on to the next step. She just had the gift.

And she could sing in almost genre and sound authentic. She was amazing. Fortunately, my music compositions were almost always a good match for her voice.

Thank you so much.

Wishing you the very best.

Alan
