It's earlier version was called "Rising Sun Blues", which was in major key and 3/4 time signature. The song was first collected in Appalachia in the 1930s, but probably has its roots in traditional English folk song. The most successful commercial version, recorded in 1964 by the English rock band The Animals, was in minor key and 12/8 with a bit different lyrics and melody. In our version the lyrics are mostly from the earlier versions, but in minor 12/8 and melody as in Animal's version. Olavi Lähteinen sings and I play the guitars. Please excuse this diversion, but I was pleasantly surprised when I let Soundcloud play through and heard ‘Hard times come again no more’. I love reggae! This is a wonderful gem!

Arri, wonderful rendition, and great use of the BIAB tools. I esp liked your sparse guitar "solo" area--no need to embellish any more than that--good decision! Very much enjoyed this!

What a wonderful rendition. Olavi nailed it with a perfect touch reminding of its roots. Of course the instruments you add, both with BiaB and especially with what you play. Arri, every one of your posts --your productions-- are in a class all by themselves. After listening to this one I listened to Hard Times Coming. Much enjoyed.
