Andrew's suggestion is a good one. Go to your D:\BIAB 2023 Download\ folder, find one of the .exe files that failed installation, and run it directly from that folder instead. You may get more detail of the exact error.

While I am surprised by the existence here of a FAT32-formatted drive, I don’t know that will turn out to be the problem. The screen shots show evidence that a few installs did work, such as styles and add-ons. The add-ons probably include some RealTracks, but if a problem is going to surface that relates to the file formatting, it will show up on one of the huge RealTracks installers. None of those are shown, if I’m reading correctly.
So, run Andrew’s test of using the downloaded installers directly, but be sure to test a large EXE file that is a set of RealTracks.
Then report back.

ps Back on the topic of FAT32, here is a quick Google result:
What are the limitations of FAT32 formatting? Be warned that there are limits to FAT32. You can't save individual files over 4GB, or make make a partition over 8TB, to a drive formatted with this system. Newer versions of Windows also don't work with it, so don't format an internal drive to FAT32.Aug 25, 2025

I have some bit of kit ... I can't remember which, that was declared "FAT32 only" and I was in a hurry, so bought an SSD that was "too large for FAT32, you won't get all of the drive". I formatted it to FAT32 and ... good grief ... I did get all of the drive and it did work on that FAT32-only machine. I have to presume that there has been some adjustment to FAT32 that remains compatible, but I don't know what or how. I suppose I really should go find out. Hmm I wonder if it was some trick within the SSD itself?

Gordon, I didn’t want to get into it here, but I did see some info on workarounds to make Windows accommodate larger limits. We can get into that if the large RealTrack files don’t install. I’m waiting for that answer.

I’m waiting for that answer. Quite right. I think Andrew's suggestion is probably the place to start. Hopefully that will/has shed more light of what's going wrong. I'm just doing a search in my /bb directory for .wma files greater than 4Gig. (The OP has UltraPAK, so I'm presuming(!), for now, no big .wav files). --- OK, no .wma file greater than 4G found.. I guess there may be marginal cases close to that, but one imagines not too many. Edit: For Info: I've just repeated that looking for any file greater than 4Gig. None found, even on an Audiophile installation.

Hello. Thanks for the help. None of the 3 drives installed in a new pc is FAT32. Every drive in the machine is NTFS. this is nos the problem. The error message reported by the Install Manager is very confusing saying about a FAT32 posible problem. It seems to be a very OLD error message mentioning FAT32 Thanks. Trying to find the problem yet.

Trying to find the problem yet. Have you yet tried Andrew's suggestion of running the downloaded installer .exe files directly, rather than through the download manager? There is a good chance that the error message will be more meaningful.

The error message reported by the Install Manager is very confusing saying about a FAT32 posible problem. It seems to be a very OLD error message mentioning FAT32 No, it's not an old message. The error is that the Installer was cancelled or aborted - it returned error code 5. There are a few common and unrelated reasons why that occurs, one of them happens to be installation to a FAT32 disk, because a Band-in-a-Box install exceeds the number of files that can be installed in directory with a FAT32 file system. That's why you need to run the installer manually - just open your BIAB 2023 Download folder and double-click on one of the files that failed and see what happens. You will likely get a more informative error message.

Yes, this is exactly what's needed next and why I suggested above that you should follow Andrew's recommendation.
