I was listening to this and then at 2:32 you played something so beautiful it sounded like Erik Satie. Seriously. Wow, I was knocked out. Way to go, Maestro!

Very lovely instrumental. As it began it reminded me of something else, particularly the fingerstyle guitar. My only criticism is that I felt the piano was just a tad too loud over the rhythm section.

James, I liked how you assembled this--you kept the motif going throughout, and that steel guitar gave it a nice alternative sense. Plus, very interesting chord changes. Thanks for posting, I enjoyed it!

Beautiful compostion that has that wonderful Delsono signature feeling. Man, that piano is so good. I gotta check out that Musicscore. 30 years ago I used Noteworthy to compose some classical-like pieces. Much fun. This sounds astounding, James.

A beautiful chord progression! There's a fine surprising going from major to minor, is there? Clever use of BB RealTracks: specailly the pedal steel part. I'm just missing the vocals to crown your fine composition!

Hi James!
Really good chord movement on this - and sometimes unexpected but not unwelcome changes - supporting that recurring melody. As others have said, that’s a good change in the bridge when the steel guitar comes in.
To reconcile the title with the piece, I thought the chord changes reflected the unexpected joys of something new being experienced, while the measured, steady feel of the accompaniment reflected trying to contain enthusiasm (or fear) while experiencing the change. That might not be what you envisaged, but that’s how I interpreted it.

Hi, James. Pleasant sound! It's got your signature harmonies, too.  I find it strange for the piano to play that long with only single notes, but perhaps that's just me. It fits, but my ear wants thirds and sixths. There's space between the phrases for an answering counter-line, especially the second time around. You do a touch of it at 4:42, but it might have been nice to have used contrasting instruments earlier, like an oboe and cello. MuseScore has some lovely free instruments. Of course, that would probably detract from the simple feel that you're going for here, which works very well.

Hi James,
I have to agree with David. This is beautiful and deserves to be filled out with lush chords to reach its full potential. Might also create more of a dynamic between the piano and then the pedal steel. That would, of course, make it quite a different piece though.

That is great and the solo piano nailed the whole vibe.
For us the single notes were mesmerizing.
Nice sound applied to the piano also.
The steel was a surprise and fit in very well.

Some really beautiful piano phrases, and I have to agree with dcuny that there is a lot of space between the phrases. But unlike him, I would fill that space with vocals. You are a singer, after all
