Hi All,

Sharing our latest song called WRECKAGE.

I was down like a pilot in a war
Wreckage, wreckage
Then she broke my freefall

I fell fast no warning around me
Wreckage, wreckage
Then she walked me away

I woke in a city without a name
Sirens shot the darkness with sound

She said her name was Mercy so I knew
Wreckage, wreckage
Then she flickered and swayed

I was down like a pilot in a war
Wreckage, wreckage
Then she broke my freefall
Then she broke my freefall

Nice gentle movement in this piece! The spoken bridge was a good choice, very effective. Really liked the mandolin work!

Beautiful song, Bob, beautifully performed. Very nice imagery in the lyrics, and the lively acoustic sounds are a perfect backing. That mandolin sounds HUGE and very present, AND very tastefully played. Superb vocals. Gorgeous choir-like background vocals by Joliz throughout. My favorite is what she does behind "Then she walked me away". Gorgeous and delicate, sweetly nuanced and grand all at one. Super job!

No rhymes, interesting! Liked the mandolin and the sparseness. Good work.

Hi Bob!
Good one! I’ve read the lyrics several times and think I understand it - I’m not good at picking up subtlety.
I love that mandolin in between and around the verses - I’ve been pondering what the mandolin is saying, and the best I can describe my thoughts are that the mandolin adds a certain ‘matter of factness’ to the story - not dire, not joyous - just a feeling of ‘it is what it is’ and maybe a sense of healing over time. I would have preferred for the mandolin to not cut-off so quickly heading into the verse, but to fade out in the same way it fades in.
A really good song with interesting metaphors of salvation.

Hi, Bob.

You had me as soon as the mandolin came in. Really lovely.

Lots of space here - big and open. Love everything about this. smile

Mandolin! So perfect for the sentiment of the piece. It's beautiful. Lots of angels on the forum today, I guess. Joliz's harmonies sound exceptional.

Very powerful song! Love the mandolin.

The spoken word bit is very effective, as is the BGV from Joliz.

Excellent!

"Down like a pilot in a war." Man, from there the lyrics only get even better. How many genii do you house in your brain, Bob. Love your choice of instrumentation, and it's always special to hear Joliz in there. Man,that mandolin adds to much goodness. Everything is so well done. "Then she broke my freefall."

Enjoy whatever happens!

Stunning.

I try, sometimes, to read the lyrics of a song first, and then see if I can anticipate what kind of song it will be. I tried it with this song, too; suffice it to say that, upon then actually listening to the song, it surpassed any and all of my pre-formed expectations.

Bob, you could write and sing anything you wanted, and it would turn out incredible. Joliz adds so much magic to the song, also. And the mandolin is simply beautiful. You know exactly what to do, what to add, what not to add, etc., in a song.

You two have done it again; every song of yours is somehow fresh to the ears whilst retaining your signature sound that I would by now recognise anywhere. Hats off to you.

The moment I heard the mandolin I thought, "This is beautiful!" The arrangement of the song is superb and it's probably my favourite of yours to date. Joliz backing vocals are 100% on the mark. Although 'you' were "down like a pilot in a war" the song brought back my mother's and aunts' tributes to their younger and only brother - an uncle I never met - who at age 19 was a Flight Sergeant and tail gunner on a Lancaster bomber in WW2. His plane was shot down and all were lost, he at least not even 20. I can't imagine myself at any age doing what he did.

#13: Ask not for whom the flower blooms, it blooms for you.
#58: Bring consciousness to it.
#63: On the road to effortlessness, effort must be made.
#92: Be Love Now, the rest will come on its own.
