We decided to go with a power trio format for this song. Pulling off a three piece band requires an excellent bass player, and of course Marty nailed it. For the video I grabbed some footage from a couple of older songs showing Marty and I playing to use during the solo, kinda fun and mostly works even though we are playing a different song Video clips from pixabay.com. Marty created the cool song graphic, and he used AI to animate it. Audio only link: Deja Vu The Band:This song started out in BIAB like all of our songs. The style I used was _BIGNITE.STY (Big Night Texas Blues Rock). I used the BIAB file as a bed to record my guitar track. I then built a new drum track using EZDrummer3, and sent the bed off to Marty so he could add his bass track. The song was mixed in Reaper using native plugins and also plugins from Waves and iZotope. I used Ozone 11 to master. Deja Vu (2025 Dave Bell and Marty Straub)Sitting here alone, feeling kinda blue Thinking 'bout me and thinking 'bout you The other night we left things unsaid Left me wondering what lies ahead It's starting to feel like I've been here before A sense of deja vu as you walked on out the door
Do you remember the first time we met? Spinning some tunes in your blue corvette We drove to the lake to discuss how we feel We walked and we talked, keeping it real Something about you, made me want for more. You've got that special something that i just could not ignore
Walking through the night wishing for more time Thinking 'bout you and I'm hoping we're fine. When you came back you had much to say. Left me wondering if you will stay. It's starting to feel like this is what you do. Conjuring desire and you stir up deja vu.All comments welcome!

Oh, man, you know I love this fun song, Dave. Get us a gig, man. Your usual outstanding guitar work carries it, and your vocal is the perfect feel to bring it all out. Your songs are always catchy earworms. Sometimes all I have to do is read the title, and it plays through every step of my day. The old vid clips worked well.

Well, two things grabbed us from the get go 1. We love trios … actually seek them out on youtube. 2. We used to own a red ’63 corvette stingray “Do you remember the first time we met? Spinning some tunes in your blue corvette” That is a cool rhyme indeed. All y'all's performances sound great. Enjoyed the vid clips and the cameos ... BTW we also use Pixabay and have for years. Great source. As Gregg Allman used to say everything is hittin’ the note here. Well done guys! J&B

Dave,
Love this format and LOVE this song! You absolutely nail this. The sound is huge, your vocal rocks and production is big and raw. Love Marty's bass. It holds down the arrangement and is the perfect compliment to your guitar. And a very cool video - so great to see you both in action!
SO WELL DONE!

Well done Dave and Marty! This 3 piece song has so much air that it is easy to hear everything going on. I was thinking while listening that the song is almost a tutorial of what do with lead and bass guitars. Being a novice player of both, there are many lines and licks in there that I could learn. For you guys, it all comes naturally.
Dave - I love your ‘smoky’ vocals, and shows what a great result you get if 1. You first have talent and 2. you use your strength. The interplay between vocal and guitar - I can see how that would work in a live performance.
Video was good too, and really good to see you both in action, even if it is from another song.
What a good pairing in a great song.,
Andrew

Loved it, echoing all the above kudos. Perfect format for your playing/singing..The melody was nice and crisp and allowed lots of space for fills. Great work!

That's a real smokin' tune, with GREAT playing all the way around. Nice production with a strong, clear pulse surging through it. SUPER vocals! The distorted vocal FX are a good choice, but might be a tad less kazoo-like for max effect. The solo cameos in the video were a lot of fun, too. Know we're not hearing any BiaB, but this is fabulous, guys!

Absolutely fantastic classic trio rock song! Loved every second of it. Great video, too.

Great guitar intro. I think the three-piece arrangement is very successful, and the guitar sound is great. You're at the top like ZZ. Laurent

Laurent beat me to it. I was gonna say, "ZZ Top lives!" Too fun seeing you playing in the video too. I loved that as well as how the guitar responds to the call in the verses.

Dave + Marty+a guy called EZdrummer( ) = the perfect power trio. A fantastic rock blues song as in a ZZTop song. As always outstanding guitar and bass chops. The vocal was perfect. Great mix. Loved it.

I agree with the ZZ Top comment. That guitar is a gritty howl. So cool a sound. And TB Player is tying the groove together. I love that blue Corvette. I want it but can't afford it. Excellent song.

Everything's cool and that vocal REALLY sells it. The bass...ace, nails it from bar one and keeps locked in while walking. Super.

Andrew It comes naturally now perhaps, but took many years to get it to that point Thanks for the very nice review, Andrew.

Hi Dave and Marty,
Great song! A few days ago, I listened to it on YouTube and really liked it, but I couldn't comment at the time (something unexpected happened here). And now, while I'm trying to listen to the songs of all the active forum members, I was also able to listen to your song again (and again) and finally give you my feedback; fantastic!!!
The intro stands as a rock! Cool riff! The song is pretty standard blues, but for me (and many others) the theme never gets old. That's proven once again, Mr. Blue Attitude!
Hans

This video demonstrates how to use the new AI-Notes feature together with the AI-Stems splitter, allowing you to select an audio file and have it separated into individual stems while transcribing each one to its own MIDI track. AI-Notes converts polyphonic audio—either full mixes or individual instruments—into MIDI that you can view in notation or play back instantly.
