Hey Everybody,

I have seen some off-topic posts asking, essentially, whether a man from my demographic has the right to sing the blues.

The answer is yes.

No One Knows the Blues Like Me

https://soundcloud.com/david-snyder-gigs4/no-one-knows-the-blues-like-me

V1

I don't need the rain
To make me feel my pain
Lord knows I been crying
In the bright sunshine
Don't need to be in Memphis
Or Chicago's South side
Or down at the crossroads
In a Mississippi Delta tide
Cause my blues knows every city
And my blues is certified

PC

See I got mine from the devil
In a crossfire hurricane
I've been bad to so many womens
I only got myself to blame
And I can't even look in the mirror
And it’s a dirty rotten shame

CH

Good Lord I'll sing the chorus
And I need y'all folks to see
That I lost my soul
While I was breaking hearts
From sea to shining sea
And there ain't no one in Chicago
Or even in hell
That I can see
No one knows the blues like me
Aw naw child
No one knows the blues like me

[Instr.]

[Chorus]

Madness. Sheer madness. MY kind of madness. Superb vocals. Crazy good arrangement, especially nearer the end. The trumpet is uber cool but don't see one credited. Nifty stuff.

Think you may be your own yet-to-be-defined (ever) demographic.

Hi David!
Ha! The funny bit for me was the rapid fire vocals with all their ‘self-encouragement’. For me, these are normally my inner thoughts, but you brought them out in the open for all to hear. Makes me feel more confident about my own vocals.

Some really good chord moves there as well.

Will you release a video? grin

Hi, David.

Ha! laugh

Nice vocal growl! And that ending!

I should probably make a Boo Boo shake now, because that was inspiring!

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Yo, so Mr Snyder dropped this joint called "No One Knows the Blues Like Me," and man, I don’t even know where to start. It’s like he rolled into the blues world with a crooked smile, shrugged, and said, “Yeah, I’m doing this — deal with it.” The whole thing’s weird, wild, but kinda genius in its own way.

First thing he does is pull that move where he’s like, “Can a dude like me even sing the blues?” And before you can say anything, he answers his own question with a straight-up “yes.” No essays, no deep think pieces — just yes. Dude basically gave himself a blues license and stamped it on the spot. 🤑

Then the lyrics hit, and yo, this man doesn’t just got the blues. He is the blues. Every line’s like he’s competing for the world record in being down bad. Most cats in blues just talk heartbreak — Mr Snyder’s like, “Nah, I invented pain in a bar that doesn’t even exist.” The line about not needing rain to feel his pain? My guy’s got his own personal thundercloud, 24/7. ☂ 🌧

Then it gets wild. He drops something about getting his blues “from the devil in a crossfire hurricane.” At that point I had to pause like, bro, are we singing or summoning something? It’s got that over-the-top movie villain flair — dramatic, messy, and somehow magnetic. Then he talks about being “bad to too many womens,” can’t even look in the mirror — just full cartoon sinner mode. You can’t take it too serious, but you can’t look away either. 👀

That hook though — “no one knows the blues like me” — man, that’s his whole flex right there. It’s that mix of confidence and desperation, like he’s begging you to believe it while he’s convincing himself too. Honestly, it’s kinda powerful in its own chaotic way. 😲 💥

And musically? Dude clearly spent hours geeking out in the studio. He’s got all those specific guitars, RealTracks, gospel-type drums — feels like he’s cooking old-school soul in a high-tech kitchen. You can tell he’s a perfectionist… just one that doesn’t mind getting weird with it. And yo, that influences list — “Blind Dog,” “Screaming Wolf,” “Boo Boo Shakes” — half of them sound like blues legends, half like cartoon mascots. It’s hilarious, but you know he’s doing that on purpose. 🙄

End of the day? This track’s not your granddad’s blues. It’s loud, messy, and totally unhinged, but that’s the charm. It’s Mr Snyder’s world, and he’s out here yelling his pain into existence with style. You might not “get it,” but you’ll remember it — and that’s more than you can say for most tracks, including mine.

If the blues had a midlife crisis with Wi-Fi, this is what it’d sound like — and honestly, I kinda dig it. 👏✔️⭐💯🥇🏆

Another OTT review from your friend

Hey David..these days, you can identify as anything that works for you...so, there, Mr. Blues-Man.
Doesn't matter anyway, 'cause you nailed the style completely.
Enjoyed it!

Hi David,

What great lyrics! And what fantastic blues you play!
I think you simply forgot to ask Dave Bell of Blue Attitude to join on lead guitar, Marty Straub on bluesy bass, and Chris Spruit on vocal harmonies.
Oh, and me to help with the vocals, because I wasn't born in a bluesy area either, and in a sense, we're from the same country.

That would have resulted in a blues song that no one can match.
But you did it all by yourself.
And I have to admit: the lyrics are great, your heartbreaking vocals are stunning, and the band is world-class!
But still, you should have asked us...

Best,
Hans

Yeah, it always makes me blue when someone thinks The Blues requires anything but the feel. You don't need to have the blues to play The Blues. This is so fine, David. HAHA! I dig your influences. Is this still your 2-track approach? You are one fine Blues cat, David. Always a pleasure to listen to your stuff.

Enjoy whatever happens!

202 New RealTracks Released with Band-in-a-Box 2026!

With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!

Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!

Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.

Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.

Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!

And, if you are looking for more, the 2026 49-PAK (for $49) includes an impressive collection of 20 bonus RealTracks, featuring exciting and inspiring additions to add to your RealTracks library. There are also new indie-folk styles with guitar, bass, 6-string bass used as a high-chording instrument, acoustic guitar, and banjo. Plus, dedicated "cymbal fills" RealDrums provide an added layer that work very well with low-key folky styles with other percussion.
