Initially I thought maybe I was imagining this, but I think not.
I've been converting songs from the minor9 collection from MIDI-only to RealTracks accompaniment, and I've often needed to boost the melody level. On the song I'm presently working, the melody volume is set to 90, the MIDI velocities are set to about 90, but the channel meter is showing well below yellow and the output volume is showing virtually nothing ... it's just coming up to about 15% on peaks.
If I save the file and open it again, volume returns to reasonably sensible (about 50% green on the master), though no volume settings or velocities have been changed.
On other songs when I've first opened them, I've had volumes right to clipping, with similar settings.
Does anyone know what goes on here?
Jazz relative beginner, starting at a much older age than was helpful.
