I'VE BEEN WRITING SONGS FOR OVER FIFTY YEARS
BUT EVEN FAMILY DOESN'T LISTEN, HOW SAD IS THAT
BUT I KEEP WRITING'EM, LIKE THIS ONE RIGHT HERE

IT'S FUN TO WRITE A SONG, IT'S LIKE A PUZZLE
TO FIT MY THOUGHTS AROUND THE MELODY AND RHYME
I HAVE A LOT TO SAY, AND BY WRITING SONGS I THINK I FOUND THE WAY
AND I REALLY LIKE EM, I WROTE 'EM AND THEY'RE MINE

BUT I JUST JOINED A GROUP THAT WRITE THEIR OWN SONGS
THEY POST THEM SO THAT EVERYONE CAN HEAR
THEY'RE MUSICIANS, THEY KNOW SOMETHING ABOUT MUSIC
SO IF THEY SAY IT'S GOOD THAT'S MUSIC TO MY EARS

NOW, MY SONGS ARE FINALLY RECOGNIZED
MUSICIANS LISTEN AND THEY SAY THEY LIKE THE SONGS
IT WAS FINE TO WRITE JUST FOR ME, BUT I LIKE MUSICIAN'S COMPANY
IT FEELS REAL GOOD, AND I'M RIGHT WHERE I BELONG

YOU KNOW WE ALL WANT RECOGNITION, NO MATTER WHAT WE DO
IT'S JUST SOMETHING THAT EVERYBODY NEEDS
IT TOOK YEARS TO GET MINE, I HOPE THAT YOU GET YOURS IN TIME
BUT ME, I'M FINALLY RECOGNIZED, IT FINALLY CAME TO ME

"SO IF THEY SAY IT'S GOOD THAT'S MUSIC TO MY EARS" well Sol here comes a symphony, this is an outstanding song about a group of fantastic people, including yourself. You should have been recognized years ago.
Loved it

Hi, Sol.

Fun and pleasant listen - certainly something everyone here can related to.

"They're musicians, they know something about music."

Ha! laugh

Thanks for posting!

Hi Sol!
“BUT EVEN FAMILY DOESN'T LISTEN, HOW SAD IS THAT”
I’ve given up showing my songs to family. When I ask them to listen to one of my latest, a strange look comes over their faces as though I’m about make them look at all 117 slides I took on my holiday. It’s a look like they know they have to wash the car so they might as well get on with it. It’s a look with a mixture of acquiescence and pity. I also have noticed the tactic they have worked out - that if they give a quick statement of praise, they can bring things to a hasty conclusion and cut off any chance of a second song, like “Well done Dad, that’s good. Mum - what do you put in the gravy to thicken it up?”
I love how the song lifts when you talk of the recognition from the forum - is that called ‘prosody’? laugh

Remarkable. I really loved the phrasing and the rhyming. Musically this is incredibly creative.

The cord progressions give both interest and depth to the composition.

I'm really pleased that you are finally recognized.

Thank you. It feels nice when somebody actually listens to your song through decent speakers instead of just a little phone. It kills me when they listen through the phone because it sounds sooooooo much better with headphones or good speakers.

Hi Sol,

We all recognise you, and know where you’re coming from. A great idea for a song and lots of thoughts that we all relate to. It takes months sometimes for the missus to register I’ve released another song. I wait ages for feedback and wonder whether it was even worth it. But this forum is great, lots of like minded people who want to make the world better with insights and music. Mind you, it’s not all about being recognised. I find it’s also therapy, letting go of inhibitions and saying what’s on your mind or getting you down…. or up. Great song, played and sung well. Good job,

Kind regards

Thank you. I've often wondered why I'm writing all these songs if a lot of people aren't listening. But then again, I always come to the same conclusion. A few people are listening and, I like to write them, record them and listen to them. So I guess that's the bottom line. If other people listen, then that's the cherry on top.
