I’ve given up showing my songs to family. When I ask them to listen to one of my latest, a strange look comes over their faces as though I’m about make them look at all 117 slides I took on my holiday. It’s a look like they know they have to wash the car so they might as well get on with it. It’s a look with a mixture of acquiescence and pity. I also have noticed the tactic they have worked out - that if they give a quick statement of praise, they can bring things to a hasty conclusion and cut off any chance of a second song, like “Well done Dad, that’s good. Mum - what do you put in the gravy to thicken it up?”
I love how the song lifts when you talk of the recognition from the forum - is that called ‘prosody’? laugh
