Hello all,
I installed PT and use the Pianoteq as virtual instrument, The latency is horrible to the point of unplayable. I read the user guide that advised me to listen to the sound/music and play around with the latency button. When click "PLAY" all I hear is a note repeated over and over. Can someone please help me to get this issue resolved so I can do some recordings? I eagerly await your replies. Thank you very much ! Dai

What is the driver under Options-Preferences-Audio-Drivers ?
What Audio Driver Type? Is it ASIO, MME, WAS .. ?
If ASIO is available try that. MME has the most latency issues generally
As far as that function with latency adjust, I think you play the note, then start playing your finger on the keyboard when the note is supposed to happen (listening to the difference in time between when the generated note plays and when your note plays) and adjust the latency down to where it is acceptable between the two. But if another driver type is available like ASIO, that would be a much better approach.

Hello all, ... When click "PLAY" all I hear is a note repeated over and over. ... That sounds like a loop-back problem. Is there any chance that the Pianoteq output is being fed back to the input?

AT, he said the manual said to "listen to the sound/music and play around with the latency button." and that is when that happened. I think he was in the latency adjust window when that happened. Hopefully he returns (?)
//that Latency Adjust window is pretty much legacy now because most devices have better driver options.

Thanks for the clarification, yes, that makes sense.

If you have Band-in-a-Box then you can navigate to Audio > Audio Driver/Settings and select the "Soft Synth Latency Adjust ..." button. The button automatically opens an explanation window. and loads the "ZZLATADJ.STY" style. This lets you adjust the latency setting for a non-DXI soft synth (e.g. GS-WaveTable Synth) by ear. When you press the Start button, BB begins to playback the "ZZLATADJ.STY". "ZZLATADJ.STY" is a special style that contains audio and MIDI instruments that play quarter notes. The note of the MIDI track is a 5th higher than the note on the audio track. While the notes are playing, adjust the latency on the spin control until it sounds like both notes are played in unison. Press start again. If the song starts with the tracks lined up right away then you are finished. If not, then this means you overshot or undershot the real latency by the length of a quarternote which is 500ms. (e.g.: If the MIDI begins exactly a quarter note early then the latency setting is now 500ms too high. If the audio is heard a quarter note early than the latency setting is still 500ms too low.) ![[Linked Image - Only viewable when logged in]](https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=download&Number=31459&filename=Spin Control.jpg) Otherwise, you can search and load the ZZLATADJ.STY and adjust latency.

Hello,
It is OP here. I use ASIO and I select Focusrite USB Midi as Output as that is the audio interface. I make sure Microsoft GS is NOT selected. Latency is less but still unplayable. Dai

I need to use a sequencer to record some piano compositions with ability to edit the notes. I had been using PT since 1992 but just got back after 17 year hiatus. Dai

Dai Ok good, those are the MIDI selections, what is Audio Driver? When playing a synth in real-time, this is as important as MIDI since you hear the synth generated Audio /The issue seems to be how long it takes the machine to actually generate the Audio sound from the MIDI signal .. //if possible, post screenshots of the Audio Drivers window, and the previous one /// welcome back!

Hello all,
It seems I finally got the latency resolved. In the Midi input I chose "SL" as the master keyboard is Studiologic. The Output I select "Focusrite" as it is the audio interface. I make sure I do NOT select "Microsoft GS". In the Audio driver I selected "ASIO" and with 44.1 sampling rate (that is what is shown in the box by default). Now I can record the note without latency. I appreciate all the help. Thanks Dai
PS: How do I correct the velocity of a note?

PS: How do I correct the velocity of a note? I look at YT video this morning (on an older PT version) and in the piano roll I can highlight the note in red then click on the velocity in the Edit box to change it. 17 years hiatus but things are coming again very slowly. I do remember editing the note in the Event box(?) where I can change the note itself, location time, duration, velocity. Any idea where this box can be found? Dai
