Haha, your lane. Didn't know we had lanes, Bob. Hope I'm not, too. In my opinion you have access to all the lanes of the musical highway, and you did a fine job taking the Country ramp. Like every country song, this one has outstanding lyrics. Great job on the SUNO vox. The whole band is mixed perfectly. Thanks, Marty! I really wasn't sure of this song. It sounded good to me, but I don't listen to much country, so how did I know? Glad it passed muster for everyone.

Excellent song writing, Bob. The finger-picking moments really shine, too. Lanes are for cars, not creatives! Thanks, Beth!

Hi Bob, I'm impressed about these 'Suno' vocals! I think I said it before, in another song of yours. But they are really great Hans Thanks, Hans. I'm blown away by SUNO vocals. Really having a lot of fun with SUNO.

What's wrong with you writing a country song? It sounds very good to me, beautiful music and the suno vocal completes it. Anne-Marie Thanks, Anne-Marie, so happy you're back!

I'm no expert when it comes to country music, but this sounds pretty legit to me, Bob. Oh, I just read the review from Floyd, so there you go! Really good writing, band sounds great as does the mix. And those Suno vocals always blow me away, amazing really! Good stuff, enjoyed. Yup, us blues guys don't know nuthin' 'bout country. Sugar Blue loves country, so he says. And Ray Charles made a second career of it. Otherwise, I think of the two genres as quite different.

“Always tried to be a faithful guy Didn't stray or let girls catch my eye Famous fatal lines, I let myself go blind And wound up with a stranger for a night”
Those first lines grabbed us from the get go. Great narrative all through.
If that’s your first country ballad a big ole KUDO’S to you. You nailed it! The band, the lyric, the mournful melody and the SUNO guy all fit the country ballad so well.
The band, with the weeping steel, nailed a classic country vibe.
Great mix too.
Enjoyed it!

Great song and production! The Suno vocal really works with it. Don't ya go a'listening' ta any critics re the 'country', hobré, as I allow as how I reckin they don't make no never mind! An' this comment is a'comin' from the wild middle east of England! If ya feel it, ya write it.
Some favourite Waoist Adages: #1: Play on the Way. #13: Ask not for whom the flower blooms, it blooms for you. #58: Bring consciousness to it. #63: On the road to effortlessness, effort must be made. #92: Be Love Now, the rest will come on its own.

Tunemonger,
There are many ways to comment on a song, so let's get right to it:
1) is it a pleasing listen? Oh yeah! Very nice in fact! 2) how's the mix? To my ear it sounds very clean and well-panned 3) use of real tracks: The gold standard of RT use is whether or not you get the tracks to work together as seamlessly as real musicians playing on the same stage. Mission accomplished! 4) Lyrics : The meter of the words is perfect for the melody... it doesn't feel forced at all. And although I'm not one who listens to much country music, I do live in the south, so I know how country people turn a phrase. Your choice of words here sounds mostly authentic to me. Such phrases as "She tells me I ain't worth a dime" and "Who knows, might even make her up and run" are exactly the sort of thing I might hear from a friend here in North Carolina. On the other hand, some of the lyrics are borderline yankeefied. I'd never expect to hear this line in spoken conversation in the south: "The guilt it will be magnified" (unless Yoda moved to Raleigh...) Granted, lyrics are typically sung differently than they would be spoken... but the best lyrics are crafted in such a way as to make it sound like a real conversation.
Of all the considerations above, I'd put the most emphasis on listenability, and in that arena this song absolutely SLAYS!

Pat M, thanks for such a very detailed and positive review! I really appreciate it! I'm worried you're going to burn yourself out commenting this much on each song. ; ) So don't feel obligated to keep it up. I appreciate the help with the lyrics - I am a city boy and was bound to falter on this somewhere. But I can easily change the line you mentioned. Thanks so much again, this was very helpful!

Bob,
I don't write country songs myself, or rather, I can't. But you wrote a wonderful country song. It's absolutely fantastic. Suno's vocals are also perfect for this song. The lyrics are wonderful too. Well, in reality, I think it's better not to say anything to the person you love. Enjoyed my listen a lot.
Best regards.

Your very touching lyrics are what an excellent country ballad needs, although I know nothing about country music Very likeable band. The vocalist is just too perfect for me, I would have liked to hear something other than a standard country voice, but then again, would it have been a country song? Anyway, I enjoyed the pleasant melody and of course the lyrics, they show your true gift of songwriting. Janne
