Hello friends.. it's been a while. I don't write many songs. This one is based on how late life relationships might develop between friends. Revelation, denial, possibility then agreement? It's all conjecture. It's just a song, not a confession. LOL The project started with the SUNO AI, but I scrapped everything but the chord progression, acoustic guitar and the drums. The rest is me, including the melody (since I couldn't sing the one generated by Suno.) This forum is to let people show how we use PGMusic products, and sometimes I just use it as a DAW. This is one of those times. No real tracks to call out. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/1ju6l74w43l7re78txhau/I-KNOW-WHO-YOU-ARE-AUDIO-MIX2.WAV?rlkey=twc6wah1lac9e412miu5swd30&dl=0YOU ARE MY FRIEND GUITAR CAPO -4 below standard tuning ACTUAL KEY Dbm ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- INTRO: (Bm A G A) (Bm) I NEVER (A) WANT TO NEED YOUR (D) AFFIR (Asus) MATION (A) (G) OR CUT AND (A) RUN AT THE FIRST (D) ALTER (A) CATION (G) BEGGING FOR YOUR (A) FAVORS IM (Bm) PLIES YOUR FRIENDSHIP (A) WAVERS (G) AND I NEED TO (A) TRUST YOU MORE ...THAN (F#) THAT (Bm) WHAT I (G) KNOW OF YOU IS (D) BASED UPON YOUR (Asus) CHOICES (Bm) ON ALL THE (G) THINGS YOU DID TO (D) CALM YOUR INNER (A) VOICES (G) ON ALL THE (A) THINGS YOU SAID, AND (F#m) WHAT YOU (Bm) DIDN'T TO (D) SEAL YOUR HEART AND (E) KEEP THINGS HIDDEN TIL (F#) FINALLY REVEALING.... Hey, Pat. Really nice song, super performances and neat arrangement. Vocals and guitars are especially nice, and I really love the stacked guitars in the main riff. Like the dynamics of the tune as well and your use of vocal FX for a boost on the chorus. Super stuff.

Hi Pat. It's great to see you again after so long I love this production. Your musicianship and your musical abilities shine brightly. The guitars in the intro set the pace and the tone of the song perfectly. Your vocals were the proverbial icing on an excellent cake. To my ears, the sound was warm and friendly, and it sat very comfortably in my headphones. The three minutes passed really quickly for me. In fact, I had to double-check that I read the song-length correctly because I was really enjoying listening and it seemed to end too soon. I hope things are going well for you. --Noel

Hi Pat! Thanks for the song! I’m a chord progression man, and I loved the chord movement in this song. I really appreciate the chords shown in amongst your lyrics also.
My lyrics interest piqued with the line ending in ‘buoy’. I was reading just ahead of the singing and thinking ‘How is this going to go’ when I realised I was reading with my Aussie brain - buoy is pronounced ‘boy’ here (at least that’s how I say it), so it all made sense when I remembered the US pronunciation. Some of the lyrics are confronting (e.g. brat) but very honest, which is what a friendship should be.
The guitar lines add wonderfully. My only thing I’m unsure of, but this is from a theoretical perspective, is the minor key of this song - it sounds sad. However, musically, I really enjoyed it! Andrew

Good to hear from you again! Thanks for listening and weighing in... The content of your review reminds me that you have always had the ability to teach without undermining the student's confidence. I appreciate your ability to point out attributes of a song in a very positive and encouraging way. You are (were?) a teacher by trade if I recall. I've often wondered how many young lives have been put on a track of success by your style of uplifting guidance.

Hi Pat! Thanks for the song! I’m a chord progression man, and I loved the chord movement in this song. I too like this chord progression, and I would love to take credit for it... alas, Suno gets all the credit! I really appreciate the chords shown in amongst your lyrics also. Thanks Andrew! I usually perform in online streaming sites, and I've found that method of adding chords to my lyric sheets to work out far better than the conventional approach of putting the chords above the lyrics. The main reason is that if you ever change the font, the chords won't move out of position when they are embedded with the lyrics. Full disclosure: the word "buoy" is likely to be pronounced both ways here in the USA... I rhymed it the way I would pronounce it here in the American south. To those who would pronounce it differently, I'll plead artistic license (or just plain ignorance)! EDIT: it might be worth mentioning that I used a rhyming dictionary in the creation of these lyrics, and it suggested BUOY as a rhyme for DO WE. Some of the lyrics are confronting (e.g. brat) but very honest, which is what a friendship should be. That line was purposefully inserted to add a bit of relief at the end of a section that was becoming wayyy too serious. Truth be told, I have yet to meet a woman who doesn't feel thrilled to be called a brat. It's a term that validates her mischievous inclinations while simultaneously allowing her culpable deniability for any and all previous bratty actions. I agree that the best friendships are sometimes confrontational but honest. I like that you chose to comment on the lyrics, since in a SUNO AI project that's the creator's primary value-add. In this case they aren't generic, they are specific to an imagined scenario... so I understand they could seem a bit odd if applied to women in general. The guitar lines add wonderfully. My only thing I’m unsure of, but this is from a theoretical perspective, is the minor key of this song - it sounds sad. However, musically, I really enjoyed it! Andrew Interesting observation, Andrew. You've caught me off guard with that question. You're right to notice the effect a minor key puts on the mood of the song. Now that you've forced me to consider why I went down that path, I'd have to say it was less to create sadness and more to create the feeling of discomfort that happens when two people negotiate the terms of a relationship. The obvious implication being that it's uncomfortable because one of them puts their heart on the line and the other one might say "no"

It's been way too long. I really like this. And you are exactly right about this is a forum about how we incorporate BB into our projects. Sadly some people don't realize that and show prejudice against the use of AI. Personally, I embrace it and I really enjoyed your work.
You can find my music at: www.herbhartley.comAdd nothing that adds nothing to the music. You can make excuses or you can make progress but not both. The magic you are looking for is in the work you are avoiding.

It's been way too long. I really like this. Hey Herb! Good to hear from you again... thanks for listening and taking time from your remaining moments on the planet to comment on my song! And you are exactly right about this is a forum about how we incorporate BB into our projects. In fact, here's what the header to the forum says: "The User Showcase is an area where users of PG Music products (e.g. Band-in-a-Box or RealBand) can post links to their original song compositions, for others to listen to and comment on."... it doesn't even say that the songs must be made with PGMusic products... although, I think we'd all agree that it's reasonable to promote the company that provides the forum. (and I did use RealBand as my DAW) Sadly some people don't realize that and show prejudice against the use of AI. Personally, I embrace it Embrace it or not, it isn't going away. I see it as one of many tools to help me find new ideas for music. At the end of the day there isn't a dramatic difference between getting a chord progression from AI, or from a circle of 5ths chart, or from a BIAB demo song. If it's new to me, and I can embellish it to make a song I like... I'll probably do it. I appreciate your open-mindedness Herb. I've always seen you as a forward-thinking man. and I really enjoyed your work. Thanks Herb... you're a good man and a good friend. I respect your opinion and I appreciate your kind words!

Hi, Pat.
Love this! The melody is just great and so is your vocal. The chorus is superb. Good song. Real.
I see that you last posted about a year ago. I haven't been around here much either until just recently. Nice to see you. Take care.

Hi, Pat. Cool song. I like the melody. Yeah, SUno seems to create songs that no one can sing. You created a good one here, and sing it perfectly. Good mix, and the vocals sits nicely.

Hey Pat so great to see you again!
I really like the song and was totally impressed by the rock jam vibe of it. I kind of reminded me a little bit of Pearl jam in a way but that's really good by me.
It has a great intensity and build to it and I really like the vocals.
Great job and good to see you around again!!

Hi Pat,
I don't think we met before in the forum, but I'm glad to hear your song! Although the overall sound could be improved (I heard it on Dropbox), the song itself is beautiful. I listened a couple of times to your song and I really enjoyed it. The guitar, the vocals, the lyrics, great! Yes, it's a very nice piece of art. Glad you skipped Suno in this!
Have a nice day, Hans

Good song, good vox. Interesting use of SUNO, that's a different way to use it. I liked the lyrics for the most part, but I felt as if the word 'brat' stuck out like a sore thumb. Not a big deal.

I think it's a great song, with beautiful dynamic changes and a damn cool production. The icing on the cake is your vocals. I love everything about it ![[Linked Image - Only viewable when logged in]](https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/images/icons/default/thumbs_up.gif)

Hi, Pat.
Cool production. I really like the build and ebb of the arrangement with the guitars and percussion.
The stacked vocal on the chorus is also really nice.

Hi Pat, very cool sound and passionate piece. Thanks for taking time to listen and comment! If I got to pick the adjectives used by listeners to describe one of my songs, it would be a challenge to find better words than "cool" and "passionate" I wasn't sure where you were going with the lyrics and I love the surprise of it. Another great word to hear in reviews is "surprise", and I thank you for your thoughtful analysis

Hi, Pat. Love this! The melody is just great and so is your vocal. The chorus is superb. Good song. Real. Well DANG! I like hearing the word REAL in a review of this song! I make no profession of being a pro.. I'm firmly in the camp of music hobbyist. I'm more of a performer than a studio engineer, so my mixes tend to sound a little too hot, muddy and live. But to me, that's the definition of "real" when it comes to music as I approach it. So, my friend.. you have made my day! I see that you last posted about a year ago. I haven't been around here much either until just recently. Nice to see you. Take care. Scott Back atcha Scott! I'll be searching for your songs as I listen through the forum to see what everyone is doing
