LOL... yes, that has been my recurring experience with Suno! But, that's OK because all I want from Suno is the same thing I want from any collaborator: a fresh perspective. We all need a way to keep from writing slight variations of the same song over and over.

You'll get no complaints from me about being compared to Pearl Jam in any way at all!

you're very kind to mention the dynamics. I'd like to say that I planned it that way, but I didn't.... the song developed organically and pretty much "just happened". When I finished the song and listened as a detached and uninvested audience, what I liked most was the ebb and flow of energy. Grandma used to say that every now and then even a blind hog finds an acorn. In this case, her folk wisdom was downright prophetic.

Although the overall sound could be improved (I heard it on Dropbox), the song itself is beautiful.
Hello Hans... nice to meet you! You might be surprised to hear that I agree with you about the overall sound quality. Obtaining a stellar mix is not my strength, much to my disappointment. There have been times when I allowed fear of failure to turn into unwillingness to experiment. I no longer make fear based decisions. All I can do is function at my current level of expertise and let the chips fall where they may. My experience is in live performing with somebody else managing the sound. I've grown to like saturated mixes with bass and drums wayy too loud. What works on stage doesn't work in a studio and vice versa. A studio mix sounds lame on stage. It's a work in process, and the process is a source of major satisfaction and enjoyment!

Yes, it's a very nice piece of art. Glad you skipped Suno in this!

Have a nice day,

Thanks for listening Hans! I will look for your songs and repay your kindness. I truly appreciate your observations!
By the way.. all I want from Suno is a fresh perspective. I can take it from there.

In my opinion, SUNO is a great tool, just as Band In A Box is a great tool. I don't use either as the full solution. We are, for the most part, performers without a band. I'm OK with generating my backup band using software. To me that's not much different than a musician who tours and hires local musicians in each town to back him up.

If I let SUNO provide the whole solution, then I'm not even a performer anymore... But if I use it as a collaborator... to introduce any element I wouldn't have considered on my own... I consider that a foundation to build on with my own talent.

Every craftsman has the best set of tools he can afford. That's why we're all here.

Hey, we are on the same page about that! When I listen to the song, I cringe at that point. My voice is just a little bit too p*ssy to pull it off. (It actually sounded good with the SUNO generated voice, which wasn't p*ssy at all. LOL. ) BUT... the lyric was a necessary part of the message, and my vocals were a necessary part of the delivery. Sometimes a new idea is just cringe. This is one of those times, and I'm totally OK with that.

Sometimes song writing is like those guys who jump off cliffs in a flying squirrel suit. You stand on the edge and wonder why you feel so compelled to take the risk... but even when you fail, it's still thrilling. But in the case of song writing, you don't die when you fail. The ratio of risk to reward is favorable.

The icing on the cake is your vocals.

Well DANG Mr. Thomas! I should send you $$$ for that exceedingly gracious review! You made my day! Thank you!
Sadly, I don't have a lot of money. What I WILL do is seek out your songs for the purpose of listening and commenting. In my opinion, using the small amount of time I have left on the planet to encourage others is a value-adding proposition, and time well spent. Hopefully now that the outside chores are done for the winter, I'll have time to get reacquainted with the BIAB forums

Thank you David! I appreciate your willingness to listen and weigh in. I've been away from the forum for a while, but your contributions have always been among my favorites. Hopefully winter will provide time to repay the kind reviews here.

Hi Pat, long time no see!
Man I love your guitar work in this one, very tasty and professionally played. Your vocal was very good, great job on that. The groove was fantastic and the backing band was spot on. So all I can add is - loved it.

PS - I hope this is just the start of you posting songs again.

Mario my friend! Good to hear from you again! Thanks for listening and replying. I recently started collaborating with an author and lyric writer from New York City. She's well-connected and there's potential for a lot of projects. If that materializes as I expect, you'll probably see my presence here increase substantially.

Hi Pat

Really big production here, loved it. The vocals were great and the songwriting top notch. musicianship too was terrific. If this is what you produce infrequently then you’re holding back on us. We want to hear more, more, more.

Great stuff, kind regards
