Anyone using an ereader such as the Kindle or Kobo to display their music? I recently saw a Ipad used to display music. A larger display would be better. I was waiting for the Skiff ereader to be released. It was purchased by another company and I understand it is dead. It seemed to be just the thing as a music reader.

I have a Kobo and it displays pdf files. I've never tried it with music. Will do so some time today and get back to you, unless cooking my huge prime rib for supper takes up all my time. I just want to smell it cooking....

You could also use large print in any word proc. file on your laptop. Type in words and chords any size. I do it.

I have a Music Pad Pro with almost 4000 lead sheets in it. I don't use it too often but when I do it's very easy to scroll to any particular song. Can any of units being talked about hold that much and can you scroll to any song in 2 or 3 seconds? Later, Ray

Music Pad is pretty cool, but if you're a budget you might want to try a used tablet pc. You won't get as big a surface area as a Music Pad but you may be able to pick up a used tablet on ebay for less than a Music Pad. Pdf is definitely the way to go if you want to carry around a lot of music, how you display it is up to your budget and your imagination.

I printed a pdf file from Band in a Box using primopdf, which is free and when you install it is an option for a printer but it does a pdf file instead. Took a few seconds. Hooked up the Kobo via usb and dragged the file to the device once it was recognized. The whole thing can be done in a few seconds, less than 30 anyway. Shows up fine but you have to imagine an 8 1/2 x 11 file being displayed 5? inch by 4 inch screen. It's small. Most songs I know well enough that put on the piano stand I'm ok with it. Pushing the button to get page 2 is a pain.
If you have good eyesight and don't mind fiddling with it to make it smaller so it fits on a page might be ok. The resolution is amazing. They have done a good job displaying pdf files.
I'm somewhat addicted to the device, but I am borrowing library titles and buying a couple of books a week. I can't see using it at home and I have not played elsewhere for 6 months due to my health..

Thanks guys for your help with this. I not only want the ereader for music but for book reading also. That is why I mentioned the ereader. The Skiff seemed to fit the bill. It was big enough for magazines newspapers books as well as music. Just right I'd say. I've checked out, on line, lots of other ereaders but they seen a bit small. The Ipad has some good music apps, even one almost like BIAB, enter the chords and it plays. My bass playing friend thinks it's the cats meow. He carries most of his charts in it now. He still has to carries some gig books as backups. The Ipad is a computer, with back light. If the gig is outside, it might be impossible to read. You can read eink outside on real ereaders.
I would imagine there will be a lot of new ereaders next year. I'm hoping there will be a large screen ereader by one of the companies.
Thanks for you help

I have a Kindle 2 which I use mainly for reading books although I have a Popular Science blog and Readers Digest magazine subscription. For me the screen size is too small for notation. Yeah, I can make the font pretty large, but would have to turn the pages too often for it to be of any use for music. I do have a book of guitar chords on it though. I bought a little wire stand to set the Kindle on so that I can see the chords while I'm trying to learn them. I can see why folks would want a Music Pad, but I would worry that someone would knock the stand over. That someone would probably be me. Stan

I believe Barnes & Noble have e-reader (free) software available on their website somewhere.
