The XMAS_P.STY was done many years ago by someone with BIAB but not PGMusic. It usually surfaces about this time of year. I always have to do a search for mine as it never seems to end up in the C:\bb\STYLES folder. YMMV LLOYD S

Well, I purchased Band-in-a-Box PlusPAK Upgrade 2025 for Windows. I'm not able to figure out which Styles I should have.

I can see that I've been the one to inquire about it a number of years. I don't know why I keep losing the damn file. I somehow thought that it had been a User Style that had ended up in the PG Music official list. I guess I was wrong.

You would potentially lose that style if you did not do the Slow Rebuild each time. It would be more like Brigadoon than Xmas.

Thanks but it’s not so obscure. It’s a genuine speculation and I think an apt reference. If you do a Slow Rebuild, user styles and third party styles are revealed. If you then do a Fast Rebuild, do they disappear, only to reappear after the next Slow Rebuild? I really don’t know.
ps Brigadoon was one of my favorite shows to play in the pit, but it’s the periodic disappearance aspect that’s relevant here. And if I’m right, then what I’ve speculated and said for many years would be true: there should be no such thing as a Fast Rebuild.

The mystery deepens.
User Style? Now where ever did I get that?
I try to keep my test system that I use here to help others as 'vanilla' as possible.

Matt, meant that only a minority of us would recall what "Brigadoon" referred to. (For readers, Brigadoon was a musical from 1947, later turned into a film, about a Scottish village that only appeared once every 100 years.) I thought the use of the reference was very cool and VERY appropriate to the topic. Cool you played it in the pit, too. Great tunes, and a lot of them. I agree about Fast Rebuilds.

Ha Ha. Brigadoon appears all over the place, but only once in a while...

I guess I've been a little freaked out by not having the Styles that I'm thinking I should have. I seem to have a little under 8,000, but others seem to have upward of 11,000.
However, this could being up some discussion. Now that I think back, I may have brought that upon myself. It may be easy to confuse Styles with Real Tracks. I guess I'm more concerned about getting my hands on all of the Real Tracks that I can. Paying extra for Styles is kind of like paying extra for MS Word templates. They're helpful and time-saving, but I can certainly create them myself.
What's everyone's thoughts on an abundance of Styles? Worth paying for, or is that just being lazy? I kind of wish that I could get a more streamlined list of Real Tracks and/or Styles that gear toward New Orleans funk shuffle. Trying to find these and putting them together in a good ensemble can be a bit time-consuming. I'd be happy to forego most of the country Real Tracks and Styles.

I think of Styles like some programs are increasingly using AI: to get close quickly. I still prefer to choose individual RealTracks, making, as you say, your own style. However, I’m a composer and arranger who intentionally tries not to make something already familiar. I doubt that would be what most BIAB users are doing.

I use RealStyles to "get close quickly" as Matt states, then add/subtract RealTracks based on the needs of the song. I find RealStyles convenient to my workflow, but new RealStyles are also the main reason I upgrade each year. After I upgrade I'll limit the StylePicker to the new RealStyles and give them a good workout as I work new songs. Keeps me fresh, or at least I think so.
We'll see what this next upgrade brings...

It just seems that the All Xtra Styles PAK for $349 is a bit overpriced. I don't care for a ton of them.

It just seems that the All Xtra Styles PAK for $349 is a bit overpriced. I don't care for a ton of them. Yeah, not caring for the full breadth of what PGMusic offers just comes with the territory. They just offfer SO much. On the other hand, this past August the PAKs were on sale for about half price, so if you're patient you can wait for a better price. I THINK they do the summer sale most years. Can't recall if they do it during the new version roll out or not, but suspect we'll find out soon enough...

I looked up my style count, and it's about the same as yours. If you go to the All Packages purchase page, and under UltraPAK it says it comes with: 7500+ Styles (Midi and RealStyles).
I agree that it's daunting trying to find a style for a particular song. It's been mentioned on the Forum before that it would be nice if AI could somehow be harnessed to help. For sure when I DO find a style I like, I mark it as a Favorite so it's easier to find again. If I find a RealStyle that's close to what I'm after, I substitute in one or more RealTracks that I like, then of course, save it as a new name and add to Favorites.

How can I edit that style? I like the drums and the overall sound, but I want to use this for 3/4 tunes, like "O Tannenbaum" and such. I'm also trying to do the 3/4 time sig in a swing 8th note pattern.
I tried changing the 4/4 to 3/4 in Xmas style, but every measure now has a 3/4 label in it and the red underline, as if I did a Bar Settings change for each measure, and the toolbar still shows the tune in 4/4 in ev8.
