Original tune - a little contry'ish piano tune using BB Style: 'Graze Soft Songwriter Country' over my chords.
I play: piano, wurly, hammond, + added ac guitar chords
R/Ts, Fiddle fills: 3152, Pedal Steel: 2666, changed drums to Folk 16ths Slow Brushes

Beautiful soundscape, Carl...loved the chord sequences and your gentle keyboard work...what synths did you use for your kybd's--they sound great! Enjoyed my listen!

Thanks a lot Tom - I played 2 pianos simoustaneously, Spectrasonics Keyscape 'C7 'Rich Ballad' combined with Modartt Pianoteq 8 U4 Tall Upright !
The Wurly is Keyscape Wurly 140b - the organ is IK Multimedia Hammond B-3X (can't remember the preset sorry).

Hi Carl!
There are many parts of your piece that I like:
  • Drum track - nice and steady, a bit of skip to it, but providing a good bedrock
  • The ‘swell’ I could hear around 3:55 and 4:55
  • How you create familiarity for the listener by using the same or similar melody phrasing in both rhythm and pitch
  • The ending on a minor chord
  • The subtle steel guitar in the background (thank goodness)
  • Of course, your usual excellent chord progression

Wonderful to listen to!

A really beautiful and gentle instrumental. The Hammond is perfect in the background. But as I was listening I thought that it really deserves to have a vocal version as there's so much feeling in it.

Hi, Carl.

Your instrument notes reminded me to check if Moddart is having a BF sale. I really like the sound of their pianos.

Nope, not BF sale... yet! wink

Lovely easy listening. Great sound stage, and I love the way the backing instruments slip in, say their piece, and then step out. Everything is woven together nicely. smile

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Andrew - many thanks for your kind comments, you seem to
notice more about this tune that I do as I was on 'automatic'
while working on it (on the inside of the music you might say)!
Thanks for your interesting observations and I'm really pleased
you enjoyed it!

Chay - funny you should mention a possible vocal version for this,
I kind of felt that during the mixing etc but I'm no vocalist sadly!
Glad you heard the 'feeling' - many thanks for nice comments!

David - well I'm glad my little tune inspired you to check out Pianoteq,
I've used it frequently for years and use both pianos/rhodes/organ as
required! Not cheap but very good and only a tiny download -
Glad you enjoyed my tune - many thanks for your generous comments!

Hi Carl,

Wow, you crafted a very nice soundscape there. I enjoyed the mellow feel, and your piano playing was superb.

It reminded me of the soundtrack of a modern Western movie, where the shooting is over, the bad guys have been dispatched, and the good guys are riding off into the sunset.

Outstanding write, production and mix!

The word that comes to mind as I listen to this piece is "soothing." I like the way the incidental instruments swirl around the pianos, each weaving its own magic.
Brilliant!

Thanks very much Bob - super glad you enjoyed my little piano tune,
interesting about 'the good guys riding off into the sunset' - never for
a moment imagined my tune might conjure up that Western Movie
image, magic how music affects us all differently.

Best, Carl

Carl, what a wonderful piece of music. My mind just wondered of to an extremely calm and peaceful place. Outstanding piano chops and chord progression. The drums fit like a glove.
Loved it

Carl, I always know you will offer a mellow, contemplative musical experience. And your musicianship is so impressive! I am barely adequate on guitar, and a real mess on keyboards. Very much enjoyed this - good stuff to ease back with and enjoy the holidays!
