Right to the point. The best music is the one we make in that moment for us. There are a lot of much worse hobbies than writing songs. Others don't have to listen them, if they don't like them. It doesn't matter if the chord progression is very used, melody similar to millions of songs, but still: it makes us feel good.
I love writing songs and recording them and listening to them. Once I wrote a song called "I'm a Raindrop".......meaning that there's a million more like me writing songs. But, that's okay because if I like them, that's enough.
