Hi All,

Joliz and I would like to thank everyone for their support and wonderful comments throughout this year. We wish everyone Happy Holidays and a great 2026.

We'll close our musical year with Christmas In Berlin.

There’s a thin frost on Alexanderplatz
Where we once hid from the rain
I walked past the Dschungel last night
Under a lavender sky
You’d have laughed at the sight of me
In this long gray overcoat
Counting marks and memories
Till my breath became a ghost

Down along Karl-Marx-Allee
The cafés are half-alive
I lingered over bitter coffee
Just to feel the time go by
There’s a girl with a clarinet
Playing “Silent Night” off-key
And I think of the way you’d tune your strings
Before you played for me

I crossed the Oberbaumbrücke
As the snow began to fall
The lights along the water
Felt like a slow winter waltz
I left a note at KaDeWe
Where the lights fall soft and blue
It just said “I almost stayed”
But I knew this too would pass

Now the trains run through midnight
Like an old and faithful friend
And I’m trying not to miss you
But it’s the season I guess
It feels like an afterthought
Like a letter never sent
So I pull up my collar
And let another season in
Christmas in Berlin

Sweet, melancholy tone poem, just right to start the season!
Great imagery, and your decision to speak the words, that is perfect.
Thanks for posting, I enjoyed it!

Glorious sounds from you two. Another brilliant story-write. Well told, Bob, and Joliz, you interpret the feeling so well with the perfect accompaniment. THANK YOU BOTH for making 2025 such a wonderful experience in this forum. I look forward to more in 2026.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Hi Bob and Joliz!
Christmas in Germany feels so emblematic, doesn’t it? The hidden treasures in your lyrics require a second listen to capture it all. Joliz’s vocal blends really well with the Electroflutes - and those flutes say so much about Christmas, Germany, and warmth.
Well done!

Breathtaking stuff, Bob. Super song in every possible way. You had me peeking ahead at the lyrics (which I seldom do) to anticipate the next impossible German lyric, which ended up being not only very possible, but very perfect. Joliz's BGVs are ethereal and insanely good. The band is different from what I'm used to hearing from you, but works perfectly as well. Just a great tune. Merry Christmas!

I like how your lyrics transport the listener back in time to the very places you describe. You can feel the rain, see the snow, and live, however briefly, the experiences in the song.

Wow. Incredible. Once again, I can't quite articulate how or why that is, but it is.

Happy Christmas to both of you.

Thank you for the stunning, stunning music.

Hi, Bob and Joliz.

As usual, a song that takes me far away.

Those mellotron flutes really fit in nicely.

Happy Holidays to the two of you, thanks for the early present! smile

Observations like this are what make your lyrics come alive.

Poetic narration against a lovely music background brings out the Christmas spirit. Mair Krissmus.

Another poetic story set to music by those outstanding musicians Bob and Joliz.
You two are so good it is scary.
As I listened to this song I could picture myself in Germany.
Great backing band and mix
Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
I will be looking for your songs in 2026.

Once again excellent lyrics and great instrumentation, but for once I have a criticism. I thought that the bpm was too fast for the vocals. I really do think it would sound a lot better slowed down and the lyrics carried more gently.
