Hi Andrew,
Yes it’s Joanne. It’s at the end of the middle bit where you sing:
“I can’t live, without you with me, to have you near me
To spend my whole life next to you”
…it reminds me of the last two lines of each verse, where in verse 1 Mikey sings….
“And I saw as she went a most hopeless situation
For Joanne and the man and the times that made them both run”
The chords are different between the two songs, but it has a similar descending tone to Joanne.
I suppose on reflection and another listen, whilst not completely like Joanne in places it does still have some of that vibe.

Regards. Hi Andrew. I like this song and I like the way the song form does follow a simple pattern (like mine do). Like you, I wonder why things happen...but I don't chalk it up to fate. I just think it's the randomness of life.
