1. Open any song, load any MIDI style, press play
2. Freeze any MIDI track
3. Piano roll > Edit anything on that track (for example, create or delete any note)
4. Press "Regenerate and play" (F4)

Expected: all tracks except the frozen one will regenerate
Actual: "X Track exceed track capacity - need to reduce number of bar / choruses in song and try again".
If at this point you'll get that message no matter if you press "Play" or "Regenerate". In order to play the song you'll need to de-freeze the track.

Confirmed, (well almost)
I froze the MIDI track, then added notes, then regenerated and the added notes were included in the playback.
My expectation would be that I shouldn't be able to add notes to a frozen track, or that those notes should not have been included after regeneration.

I didn't get a message about tracks exceeding capacity.

I'll see what the developers suggest.

Thanks Trevor. My understanding is that freezing a track will only prevent it from being regenerated, and one of the main reasons freeze MIDI tracks is being able to edit to MIDI data to customize the track.

Sometimes the issue only appears after clicking on regenerate three or four times. Could you please try again?.

I always thought that freezing is similar to "locking" the track.
By logic, you unfreeze>edit>freeze>listen., repeat the cycle. Cerio, the question you raised is a good one.

P.S. In a Chord Track for example, you have an option to "preserve" note range from regeneration. These are done mainly for Key Switches. I know it is different, this was an addon feature that was implemented to get BIAB more open to VST3 instruments. I can totally see the convenience of being able to edit frozen track, without constant freezing & unfreezing. We need Andrew or someone from PGM to explain if it's a bug or by design.

I think the ability to edit frozen tracks is a feature, not a bug. However, that error message described in my first post (that prevents the user to pay the song) sounds like a bug to me.

Re: "Actual: "X Track exceed track capacity - need to reduce number of bar / choruses in song and try again"."

I unfroze all tracks and regenerated at least 10 times and didn't get the message.
Can you let me know how many bars / choruses are in the song giving you this message, and I'll check again?
My song was 46 bars with 3 choruses.

Strange.

Yesterday I could replicate the issue everytime I tried. I even restarted the computer to try again (which is what I usually do to make sure the reported issue is replicable), and I got the same.

After reading your post, I've just tried again and cannot replicate it anymore on my system.

If I find something else, I'll post t here, thanks again!
