Yes, you can run BIAB from the drives supplied by PG Music. You do have to run the installer and select at least the Minimum install, where you can specify that the sound content (RealTracks and/or RealDrums) files are located on your external drive (or anywhere else you choose to load them).

The minimal install does load some files on your boot drive. To my knowledge, most of these files are still comparatively small, such as the PG Music Fonts needed to read on-screen notation.

To my knowledge, all the drives supplied by PG Music are SSD drives that connect by USB3. I know that's the case with the audiophile drive.
