I'm pretty sure I went down this road a few years back and with forum help figured it out at the time. But I can't get back there today.

I want to:

1. Use a multi-timbral VSTi such as Falcon or Kontakt (which I know how to use to route MIDI channels to and audio outputs for individual tracks in my DAW, Cubase.)
2. Route individual MIDI tracks into individual MIDI channels of the multi-timbral VSTi.
3. Tap the multi-timbral VSTi audio output and route to discrete audio channel and then to BIAB mixer.

So far, I'm able to load the VSTi in a track, choose MIDI channel 1 and route the MIDI track outputting on MIDI channel 1 to the VSTi by selecting reroute to the track hosting the VSTi successfully. Now 'VST3' shows up in the plugin window instead of 'default synth.'

However, if I route a subsequent track for example on MIDI channel 2 to the VSTi MIDI Channel 2 on the instrument, not signal is present ... unless I select Omni, at which point it plays. I don't know whether there is some technical glitch between the instrument, UVI Falcon, and BIAB or I am doing something wrong. I do know that in Cubase UVI Falcon functions as expected with respect to communicating from a MIDI tracks channel to corresponding channel in the instrument.

Finally, I'm at a total loss as to how to tap the instruments individual audio channels into BIAB.

And to be clear, the MIDI is imported to seperate tracks, not BIAB Melody channel 6.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Sounds like Realband would be a much better fit for your workflow, just mentioning.
If you're to the point of using multiple routing options you may feel much more comfortable in a more DAW like setting.
Right-click a track and assign MIDI channel, Audio out, whatever

Hi rharv,

Thanks for your reply, but I really want to do this in BIAB if possible, which I think is and is supposed to be possible.

In any case I want to sort out the MIDI routing to a multi-timbral VSTi.

With respect to why BIAB instead of RB, I want the ease of auditioning additional RealTracks against the MIDI composition. While this may not be any less convenient in RB, I've way too many hours into Pro Tools and Cubase to want to take on another DAW.

The solution for proper MIDI channel routing is to make sure the multi-timbral VSTi is instantiated on a yellow MIDI track. I had it instantiated on an empty white track.

Chat support did not know how to route the individual VSTi audio outputs to the mixer Master and referred me to technical support. I am marking this as resolved, but I will start a new post asking only about the audio routing.

BTW, using UVI Falcon permits some fantastic sounds far beyond what the BIAB include synths can provide.
