Thanks Tom! That clarifies it and provides a different perspective. Over here (and in UK, NZ) ‘shagging’ is what a young couple might do in the back seat of a car or elsewhere - or ‘on a rock’. In the 70s here in Australia, if someone had ‘spunk’ they might be a good looking person with bravado, as in ‘He’s a real spunk’, whereas in the UK (I think) it means a certain body fluid.
